"A Christmas Bonus"
by Anissa Jones
My doll Victoria looks just like a real baby, and because I don't have a little sister, I make believe she is my baby sister. Well, actually I do have a brother who is a year younger than I am. But he's bigger than I am and it's not like having a baby brother like some of my friends do.
Victoria is very special because my Uncle Norman gave her to me. He took me to this big store in New York. It's a toy store where they have all kinds of toys and dolls, and he said to me, "Anissa, you pick out anything you like!"
So I picked out Victoria because she looks just like a real-life baby.
Once Victoria had to go to the doll hospital because she had to have a whole new head. Her eye sockets(?) came out and her ribs were fractured. She was in the doll hospital for a long, long time. I bet it was six whole months. I sure missed her. Mrs. Beasley missed her, too. [Ed. Note: That's the doll "Buffy" (Anissa) carries on TV's Family Affair.]
Mrs. Beasley is an older lady doll, and she takes care of Victoria for me when I go to school or have to be away from them. Even when we go on a trip, I make sure Mrs. Beasley goes along so she can sit with Victoria when Mommy and I leave the hotel. But we never have to scold Victoria! She's too little to do anything bad.
I guess the most exciting thing that ever happened to Victoria was when I told her she was going to have some little sisters of her own on television! Mr. Fedderson-the man who produces our show and My Three Sons, too-liked Victoria so much the moment he saw her, he said he was going to get six just like her to use as stand-ins for the triplets on My Three Sons.
Victoria was very happy about that. Other people should be glad they have real little baby brothers and sisters. Even if I don't, I've been so glad I have Victoria!
