The gun had blanks in it. Tw things tell us this or hint at it:
1) Remember the gun dealer said "Do you know what you are buying" to the Persian guy's daughter when she asked for the "red ones".
20 They showed the box of bullets in the drawer later on. The label on the box said BLANKS.
