What I thought was interesting was that all the characters were portrayed as having a good side (in addition to a racist side) except some of the white characters. The DA, the gun dealer and the car dealer were purely negative. All the minority characters at some point showed a courageous, sensative side. Even the DA's wife (white, but not a true bogey-man, because not a white male businessman), was allowed to demonstate some redeeming qualities, when she hugged the maid and said you're my only friend.
Thus I conclude that the movie was itself racist.
