i like to know what is the general opinion on which range of 1/35 scale models of armour you raccomand in terms of historical accuracy

Overall, if you are not very familiar with all of the different vehicles and model companies, its hard to go wrong with Tamiya kits. Often they are not as fancy as other kits, but more often they are better overall. Tamiya does have some very old kits that are not so good, but even a "bad" Tamiya kit from 30 years ago can be better than some new kits by other companies. Tamiya has also replaced many of their old kits with all new versions.

Dragon has some very nice kits but also some real dogs mixed in. And none of the kits are really easy builds. You have to know which kits are good and which are poor. In some ways Dragon has gotten worse... they give more parts and details, lots of things like photo etch, metal parts, etc. but accuracy and buildability has really declined.

Italeri has some good kits but some poor ones also. Again you have to look up reviews of each kit.

You had best watch out for Tamiya and others where British colours and schemes are required. Their instruction sheets often leave a lot, and sometimes everything, to be desired. Do some independant research before you apply the paint. The latest Matilda II is still is not correct but to be honest, better than most efforts at this scheme.
