hallo all
what do you think of the general appeareance and accuracy of the tamiya kit german 8 ton semitrack sdkfz7 artillery tractor?
regards!
stefano
was very nice, it has been passed by the new DML and Trumpter kit's. 1st Tamiya 8 ton I built came with the 88mm AT/AA gun...both in the same box !!!!! Don't think it was $12.00 !!!!
Any way the 8 ton by Tamiya lacks detail that today is standard, at one time it was motorized so it suffers from that, meaning the tracks are not great and the vinyl front wheels were meant to go across the floor, also means the suspension is not to good, the engine is not to good as well. But built and with some extra care can look nice. Mike.

I begged my mom to get it for me for christmas at around age 9 it was purchased at the local Woolworths. I remember the build, i used a kitchen paring knife and testors glue! The paint job must have been horrible! but god I loved that model.
the olny store I ever saw the 8 ton Semi-track and 88mm AA/AT in the same box was...Woolworths. In the mid-80's when I got back into building models, the Woolworths was one of the 1st places I went to looking for kit's and at the time they had M-1 Carbines and M-1 Garand's, x-RKO issue for maybe $75-80.00 a piece...did I buy any ...noooooo ! Mike.
...the "tankers" version, it was simply the same weapon but cut down so it was considerably shorter. Woolworths had them for around $39 in the mid 80's, they also had Kar 98K's and I recall the M1 carbines. Its probably a good thing I never collected guns as I wouldnt have room for all the model kits!
