Need a color hint

I just bought a Pit Road JGSDF Type 90, and I'm suspicious of the color callouts on the instruction sheet.

They call for OD and dark brown. Sorry, but no way is that green OD.

Any help or opinions?

Thanks

Jim

JGSDF colours

You are right - OD is way too dark.

TAMIYA do the correct JGSDF brown and green in their acrylic range (bottles are XF-70 somethings) however I don't know the actual ref. no's off the top of my head.

That said, the brown appears very similar to "earth" in their normal range and the green appears slightly darker and more 'green' in tone than their 'Field Grey' (XF-65?)

HTH

There is also a JGSDF Olive

Tamiya has it in a jar and spray can. Its a dark olive and isn't particularly green. I use it a lot for Vietnam vintage US armor. Nice shade. If you remember the OLD Pactra dark OD, its very similar.

A good source for JGSDF armor.....

Believe it or not, the Gamera movies from the mid 90's have excellent shots of all types of Japanese equipment.

A good friend will be there to bail you out of jail in the morning. A great friend will be sitting next to you, asking "how did we get caught?"

Thanks, guys

I'll go to the LHS tomorrow and pick up the colors I ned.

It's great to be able to get info like this, when the internet just gives facts with no background.

I was in an office once where they had a sign posted:
NONE OF US IS AS SMART AS ALL OF US.

Works for me.

Thanks

Jim
