Thats too bad. I have the Monogram Jagdpanzer that I built some time ago......

It's finished but still sits in the box because of those lousy tracks. I have painted them about 3 of 4 times, and the paint kept coming off of them. (used enamels, water based stuff and finally krylon indoor/outdoor spray paint) I thought about robbing a set of tracks off of the 1/32 21st Century Toys Panzer IV instead. If someone here has painted Monogram vinyl tracks, and you managed to get the paint to stay on it, please let me know how you did it. Thanks.
on my tracks for maybe a year, maybe a bit more, not asa primer as the base coat...works well on every vinyl tracks I have but not Italeri stiff as crap vinyl...sorry Italeri. I'll use the Krylon Fusion, the"seal" in with Dullcoat...never a problem other that Italeri tracks. Mike
Thanks Mike, I guess I will get that stuff. Been wanting to finish this thing for a while

Guess you can find it at most paint stores? Do you spray it on and let it set for a day or two? Does it come in black or dark gray? Thanks for the info.
least what I use ...it comes in a large rattle can, it's a "flat" choc brown for camoing ones ATV for hunting...I can't think of any other use, plus there's little pic on the lable. Got my in the local Wally-Mart. I will let it alone for a hr or 2, but it really... as the lable say's... dries in 15-20 minutes. This Choc Brown I use and I only use it tracks, will last into next year, Krylon's spray nozzle, spray's in a pretty tight pattern, not much over spray. Mike.
Has anybody used fusion on plastic (what it was supposed to be for?)

DON'T!
Test it on something from the kit...something you don't care to ruin. I painted an El Camino (AMT) with the dark green, and the damned stuff crazes plastic! It looks like a vinyl car (stomp stomp stomp stomp).
I have used Fusion on kits with no problems. AMT plastic is really soft though so that could be the problem. It has worked fine on old Monogram, Airfix and new Revell plastic. I like their dark Navy Blue
Painting the Monogram tracks is not a big issue. When you build the kit (and pretty much any tank kit with vinyl tracks) do not glue the idler or sprocket wheels in place. This way you can paint the tracks, loosely slip them in place, and then fit the wheels. There is no pulling and stretching of the tracks if you do it this way.
I have used the Tamiya Polycarbonate Spray Paints for RC car flexible bodies. They sell a "Gunmetal" Poly spray that is good for tracks. Its not really what I would call gunmetal - its about like their Flat Metallic Grey jar paint.
Tracks come in a black-color and you have to attach the ends together. I know that the Grant/Lee kits from the original releases had the tracks in a silver color and...I thought that they also came as one big 'loop' for each track where you you just fit the track over the whole bogie/wheel assembly when you slid the rear wheel on.
Anyway, the tracks are quite maleable and seem to be not as stiff as the original ones. They're a rubber-ish material, not sure if that means they're vinyl or not. Many thanks for the tip about the Krylon Fushion to keep the paint on; I'll make sure I pick up a can of that!
