The Elvis tank was an M48A1, but

he spent most of his time as a scout and jeep driver. His M48A1 had external fuel drums, 5 support rollers and the standard TC cupola.

not certain which variants. The early gas engine models got upgraded to the A3 standards with the diesel engine starting in 1959, so there might be a mix of both in the movie.
