"Broad beam" Leander? (modern RN)

Hello gents,
I've been collecting a bunch of Airfix Leanders as cheap base kits to build a number of different variants but lacking plans, where exactly would I have to add the one mm it would need in scale? I don't suppose it would be as easy as adding a strip between the hull halves and then reprofiling the bow and stern (and then the deck of course)? Or was the broader beam "added" from just after the forecastle for example.
