Thanks for the response!

Definitely agree the outer hulls were painted black --- actually a very dark gray anti-fouling paint --- below the waterline. However, I'm referring to the pressure hull inside that. On the Revell Germany 1/72 Type VIIs, you can open up the flooding holes and install a resin pressure hull, or at least the portion of a pressure hull that will be visible through the flooding holes. Unfortunately, though, I've not seen anything authoritative on what color the pressure hulls were painted. At this stage, any color I paint it will be no better than a guess.
