Deportation?

I made the mistake of being an ex-pat Yank living in the UK when the present UK government decided to unilaterally abrogate the tax agreement between the two countries. Thus, if I stay here, the UK will tax my US earnings on top of what I pay the IRS, even though I pay UK tax on my UK earnings. And, when my brother and I sell the last of the family ranch in California, I'd be liable to pay capital gains tax to the UK.

I don't think so! The last time we Yanks had an issue about taxation without representation (I don't have any elected representation over here), we got a little snotty about it. I had ancestors who fought on the winning side in that one, and I'm not sitting still for it now!

So, thanks to their greed, they'll lose the UK taxes I'm now paying, they'll lose Caroline's UK taxes, and if we can find a logical way to make WEM a West Virginia LLC, they'll lose the company taxes too.
