if FS wants to see the inside. At least it can be opened by pulling the barrels and lifting off the top of the turret.
Each barbet weighed over 3,000 tons. A WWII American destroyer went in about 2100 tons. All three complete turrets weighed as much as a Light Cruiser.
The only things non-kit are the turned barrels and the small straps of .020 plastic over the trunnions to hold the guns in place with the turret top off. I don't know why Tamiya detailed the inside of the turrets but they make a great detail!! I still have the twenty 18.1 inch shells to paint and detail and mount somewhere. With green fuses. And red paint on the ones in the loading trays to show they are primed and ready to fire. I may use some plastic or spare sandbags to make powder bags for the guns. Six 50 kilo bags per gun per shot. That's a heck of a lot of powder going off inside that turret!!
I've got to weather the blast bags yet. WAY too bright and clean for me. Some light gray wash should be just the ticket. Then I need to polish up the bands on the other six barrels and do some black weathering like these got. I like the look.

Plans call for adding more detail inside after I get the ship back into my grubby little mits.
