Response to Where can I find hangar bay pictures of the U.S.S. New Orleans (LPH-11)?

with Jonathan's, from my memories of the Iwo Jima in the mid '70s. I recall that the ship's boats were usually stored in the aft end of the hangar bay, on a cradle with the launch held above the Captain's gig. AIMD shops were forward on the same level as the hangar, with the engine shop accessible through either the central forward passageway, or through a roll-up door that opened up to the hangar bay itself. I can't remember what spaces were aft between the hangar and the fantail. The ship's attached CH-46 was usually kept below in the hangar.

I think all my Iwo photos were taken topside, but if I come across any taken below, I'll post them.

If you can get on to the Modelwarships Forum, post your question there, I know that Keith Binder, who's on that site from time to time, was on the USS Inchon for awhile , and may have additional information that may be useful.
