HMS Ulysses

Hi all,

I have a long-term project moving slowly along. I have an Iron Shipwright 1/350 Dido class light cruiser kit that I will be modifying into the HMS Ulysses, from Alistair MacLean's great novel. I am primarily an aircraft modeler so I am much out of my depth here!

I have been collecting information on this class of ship, mostly from the internet. I have a copy of the book with a nice diagram of the ship in the end papers, so I have a good idea of what she "should" look like. I have also been looking at paint chips and considering how she should be painted. I am picking up a number of resin/PE bits for the additional secondary armament, plus a number of crew figures.

All that said, I remember running across some information regarding detail painting for a RN ship of this type but cannot seem to find it. Things like the insides of gun splinter shields, the mounts for the main guns (in the slots for those guns), the ship's boats, plus the secondary armament including quad pom-poms and the 20mm guns and their shields. The problem is I cannot re-find this information. I am sure it's out there but I cannot dig it out. Can anyone give me a "point" to this type of information? If it is in book form, I should be able to use inter-library loans. On-line information would of course be easier.

Any and all help appreciated!

Thanks in advance, Jim
