is it the same kit? If they are different, has someone performed a comparison review yet? I am especially interested in a "pre-AA mounted everywhere" version if that narrows it down to one or the other...

Cheers!

they are both 44 fit, aoshima is more accurate in outline but less detail than fujimi, altho there is a flyhawk detail set for the aoshima now which makes it pretty good.

Aoshima versus Fujimi

October 5 2009, 2:00 PM

No they arent the same kit and share nothing in common, aside from depicting her in her later war (1944) outfit. I think both are good, although I am partial from what I have seen, to the Aoshima kit. OOTB the Fujimi kit has more detail, though. I think both will make nice models and perhaps price would be a determining factor?

there is a review...

on Modelwarships.com review page some months back of the Fujima kit. Very detailed. IIRC there are innacuracies in the gunports for the secondary 5" guns and some other issues. I haven't seen anything on the other kit. I have always been interested in the Kongos as they fought a war while all the other battleships sat around their anchor cables at Hashirajima waiting for "The Final Battle", and were pretty much useless when it came.
