I recently bought this kit as kind of a fun build. The instruction sheet is pretty sparse with regard to colors and painting. What are some recommended colors for the deck, hull, weapons, etc.?

DeHaven or DeLong?

July 11 2012, 10:09 AM

[linked image]

The 1:300 scale DE USS DeLong is pretty nice for what it is. The secondary armament is pretty clunky. At 1:300 it is a bastard scale, and aftermarket replacements are not available. 1:350 items are too small by an eighth.

Painting depends on what ship you are attempting to model and the timeframe.

Correct, it's USS DeLong. Looking to model it in WW2 colors.

DeLong Camouflage Measure

July 11 2012, 3:02 PM

http://shipcamouflage.com/rudderow_class.htm

According to the Shipcamouflage.com database, the DeLong was in Ms21 (overall 5-N Navy Blue) in 1945.

Other options for other members of the Rudderow-class and other time periods are presented in the table.

Check the DE entries at photo archive sites such as navsource.org for hoto references
