I was wondering if someone could fill me in on the title of a fic I am interested in re-reading. It is when the family is in California, but Niles and C.C. are divorced. They have a daughter together and through the course of the story the two eventually get back together.

Can anyone help?

I thought as Claudia, that must be "The Moon in the River", one of my absolute favourites, based on "Philadelphia Story" (You know: Katharine Hepburn playing the uptight socialite)
It so well written, true to the storyline on Philadelphia Story, but with the approach of it own. Wonderful fic!

It not a very good story (sorry, if the author reads this statement, but I am known to speak my mind), but maybe (just MAYBE) it is the one You are looking for.

Don't you'll think it may be the one where CC lives and goes away to teach and their daughter keeps asking Niles about her mother so Niles goes to where ever CC is and lets her know their daughter wants to meet her. She does come back secretly during a Christmas play but their daughter sees her and knows who she is. They all live happily ever after. The story is no longer on this site. The writer took off all her stories. I loved this story all this writes stories {can't remember her name.} and would love to read them all again also.

I think the one you're talking about is "Exile" by SME. A good, emotional read.

I thought about "Exile" too, but Niles and CC are not very friendly in this story towards each-other. In fact, if I remember correctly they have almost a rape-scene between them. It is a very good story, although sad and somewhat disturbing...

"Exile" is one of my favorites, I know it isn't that one, and it wasn't the other one you suggested either.

The very first one you suggested made me think that the one I'm thinking of had some mention of a tree house in it... and I may absolutely be wrong, but something is telling me Niles had become an accomplished caterer and just moved back to CA after opening a new business? It's really driving me insane that I can't remember more...

I'm almost positive "The Moon in the River" had a tree house in it, and Niles was a caterer - he was catering CC's wedding. Are you positive that's not the one you're looking for?

The tree house and Niles as a caterer is mentioned in "The moon in the river". I'm 100% sure about that. The only other fic I can recall, where Niles is a caterer is Malu's "Our love is here to stay". However there is no child and no divorce, in fact Niles and CC were never together...

That is so weird... I wish I knew more about the story I am thinking of, but, oh well... it isn't the end of the world. There are so many other awesome stories to re-read! Thanks again to everyone for trying to help!
