to stop Hussein from violating civil rights. He gassed the Kurds in 1988? That was fine with Reagan's administration. In fact, the US PROVIDED chemical weapons TO Iraq (for use against the Iranians, of course). They did that AFTER Hussein had (supposedly) gassed his own people.
