The "Holy Spirit"...

Response to While I respect your belief

As defined by the Christian tradition...
Is a bastardized version of the Shekinah Glory of Judaism.

"Sophia" is the Greek personification of "Wisdom".

The Shekinah was thought to be...
-- The "presence" of God on earth.

The "Christian" concept of the "Holy Spirit"...
-- As a guide or counsellor...
Is a combination the Jewish and the Greek concepts.

    That is to say...
    -- In the primarily pagan...
-- Paulinian sense of the "christian" tradition.

In Hebrew, "Shekinah" is a "feminine" word...
-- As "Sophia" is in Greek...
But, traditional, patristic, "christianity" has given the "Holy Spirit" a "sex change"...
They "believe" that the "Holy Spirit" is an aspect of "God the Father"...
And, just like Jesus, the "Spirit" is also "Male".

    However...
The feminine aspect of the "Holy Spirit"...
Was duly noted in the Gospel of Phillip...
-- Which, I know, is an apocryphal text...
-- And, as such, is not "recognized" as an authoritative gospel...
-- By the more "modern" christians of today...
Where it was pointed out that the "Virgin Mary" could not have been impregnated by the "Holy Spirit"...
    Because...
    -- A female can't impregnate another female.

      The Gospel of Phillip --
Some said,Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit, they are in error.
They do not know what they are saying.
When did a woman ever conceive by a woman?

    And...
    BTW...
-- You're entitled to believe whatever you want to believe too.
