Let's assume that Israel is the Israel of the Bible (which I don't believe it is), and that the Jews of today are descended from the Jews of the Bible (I believe the Sephardic minority is, the Ashkenazi are not -- they're Europeans) -- even assuming these, all you have is people that wrote a book that said God gave them some land. Kind of self-serving if you ask me.
