Very, very interesting stuff, if you look back into the beginnings of the Social Credit movement. It was inspired by C.H.Douglas and his work on creating currency for the people. Social Credit was actually issued for a time in Alberta, Canada ...with notes that were later dubbed, "funny money." I asked my Mother-in-law about it one time, since she'd been a recipient of this currency, as a citizen of Alberta during the time it was issued. She shrugged and said, "it was ok. We all got some issued to us and we had to spend it for certain things ........ and it seemed to work just fine...."

But it was stopped by order of the Canadian government. Why?

If a whole bunch of us decided to form a little community and use monopoly money to "token" our values to each other in an essentially barter-based system ....... would it become illegal ......... just because we didn't have a right to issue money and because we weren't paying any income tax on our "earnings"? Could we be charged with counterfeiting?

I've often wondered about money and just how the monetary system works, thinking I was just too uneducated to understand it. As I began to search and ask though, I found that pretty well everyone else is just as equally in the dark. I talked to a "consultant" at my bank and asked him if HE understood it. He didn't; he'd never really thought about it!
