Response to That's why a bad economy is a good thing

I see the American's biggest problem being ...their attitude about themselves and their "glorious country". They glorify their country and glorify their military might. They constantly speak of "serving their country" as some kind of highest calling possible. Anyone in the services is seen as being somewhat more heroic than a MacDonalds hamburger server.

They spend 40% of their budget on "defense" (against what?) ... but .... while they feel somewhat "uncomfortable" about that, they DON'T see what a sham it really is.

If they'd start to recognize their military and military service for the sham it is ... and QUIT enlisting and praising those who enlist ...

Maybe the entire military/industrial complex would have to dry up.

Now I don't despise people like Super for being in the navy but at the same time, I sure don't feel like hailing him as a hero for BEING in the navy. Him going to Afghanistan to "fight for his country" or to "protect his country"? Nah. He's going there to carry out the wishes of his military/industrial complex, that's all.
