This type of major change within a species in such a short time is fascinating. I mean, in the life cycles of these reptiles, we're talking about a mere few dozen generations within the species. Amazing.

I guess Dr. Stephen Gould's theory of biological evolution via punctuated equilibrium has some more support for it.
