      WHAT do you use to replace religion?

      I agree with you that religious fervor is a pretty bad thing but ...... what would you use for a replacement? Religion serves to focus people into a common perception and common purpose. Left to themselves, people tend to become depolarized. Depolarized people are vulnerable to any polarizing influence and in effect, become victims of that. So it seems to me that there ALWAYS has to be some kind of polarization of people in order to create some kind of common "purpose" amongst them. I just wonder what that could be.
