Period. I read that and thought back to some of my anarchist readings, and look at my "concerns", and how they are often related to money. Money for things, for lifestyle. How many of us work for passion, rather than income?
Most of us are stuck in to this consumer society to some degree. Recognizing it is a healthy thing. I know there is a simplicity movement, but even that seems part of the whole same thing. Memes seem part of "society".
A lot of academia is regurgitation and memory. In part probably because these things are easy to measure. How to measure "thinking"?
