I have 2 wonderful little ferts and while one of them cant get enough of the ferret lax (hairball remedy) the other wont even go near it. I have tried the force feed method...I just cant do it. I hate to scare him and he just looks so miserable. Is there something I could mix with it to make him like it or has anyone else had this trouble and found a different product that was more appealing? Any info would be great as it is shedding season and he seems to be doing a lot of it.

Have you tried a different product with a different taste? Or mixing a bit of ferretone in it?

Your ferrets are shedding right now? Have you had problems in the past with hairballs? Vaseline works too, and has no taste....if your little guy finds the taste of the ferret lax unappetizing.

I have tried mixing it with the Ferravite...which he likes and still wont go near it. And I believe he is shedding as he is blonde and I have little blonde furballs here and there (no bald spots on him though). I will try to mix with ferratone tomorrow...never tried it though. Thanks for ideas

Is he pooping or urinating at all? If he cannot 'go', he should see a vet in a hurry. If he seems to be uncomfortable or painful, it'd be a good idea to get him checked out by a vet too.

He seems to be giong ok now (just not as much as usual) and all of the books and sites say they should eat a little of some hairball remedy every day to avoid blockages. Mac and Roni [I know, my husband thought it was cute :)] are my first ferrets and I have become extremely attached to them and I want to make sure I take care of them the best way possible.

Megan is right...if there are any kind of pooping problems, a vet visit is important. I had interpreted your message to mean you were just giving the lax as a preventative.

When you say "he looks miserable"...is that because he doesn't like the lax or because he is having poo and pee problems?

Good luck!
