new here & possible local ferret club/association

Hi-I'm new to this forum, but not to ferrets. I had a couple ferrets about 15 years ago & did everything wrong. I was not educated when it came to ferrets. People I knew who had ferrets were also not educated. I had problems with the petstore they came from & vowed never to get them again. Now 15 years later, I have learned SO much more about ferrets, & I adopted 2 rescue ferrets (Zora & Zeus) from Ferret City Shelter. Ferret math struck hard, as a week later, I adopted my first private bred, (late alter) ferret. Zena, (aka "vampire ferret") was a bad biter at 6 months old. I think it was mostly fear. I spent a lot of time with her, & she is so much better. She no longer draws blood. I got the first three last September. In January, I wanted to get another male, to be rough & tumble with Zeus, so he wasn't picking on the girls...so I adopted Xander from Craigslist, who was supposedly a private bred from Idaho, but I have yet to confirm it. I have talked with several breeders & shelters in that area, & no one knows who he might have come from.
I have always liked black sables, but they are not as common over here & started looking back east. I adopted 2 babies (Mystic & Majik) from GFX-Ground Effects Ferretry in NC. I flew out there 2 months ago, & right before I left to get them, my hubby "bartered" another ferret so he could get the lawnmower he wanted. So I also adopted Ace, another black sable, from the same place I got the babies from. Ace couldn't come home when I brought the babies, so I made arrangements to get him home through another breeder who was going to the eastcoast already. I will be showing a few of them this fall at the INWFA show in September, & will add more to my show list later on down the road when I have more experience at it. =)
I am a member of AFA & INWFA, & would like to start a local ferret association/club to be based around the Everett area, with maybe smaller area "chapters" around the area, if the interest is there.
My main goals are to help educate the public, & bring more ferret people together for fun events.
I would like to see a program established that focuses on "ferret awareness" days at area pet stores, to help educate the public on ferrets, & hopefully help cut down on un-informed impulse adoptions from the petstores. I'd like to see adoption days w/ ferrets, like they have for cats & dogs. Some may have this already, but I am not aware of it, beyond the local ferret rescues.
I would like to put together info for current & future ferret owners, with contact info for local vets, etc.
I have lots of ideas, & am working on putting them together to get things rolling.
Anyone who is interested in seeing a local club/association, or getting involved, please let me know.

I live in Issaquah and would love to see a club started and would be more than willing to help start one. I was invovled in two clubs in California and President for the last two years of one of them. When i moved here I thought there would be ferrets clubs to pick from, but I found nada. So I would love to help!
