RawkGrrl has always held a special place in the heart of Buck Brothers. They write reviews with passion and genuinely care about the music that they cover. And, with this in mind, it's damn nice that they took the time to give our debut album a spin. And a review:

Buck Brothers - Me
Back2Forward Records

Buck Brothers are really Me. And they may be You too.

The band’s debut release is dubbed Me, which is fitting, since their songs accurately sum the voice of Me’s everywhere - the young adults and youths of today - with songs that are fun, carefree and silly.

There are no hidden meanings, and no reading between the lines. If you want Punk Art-Pop at its best, these bro’s bucking got it down in 33 minutes flat. Rawkin’!

Me opens with a radio single-worthy "Run, Run, Run, Run, Run," followed by "Gorgeously Stupid" and "Mannish Girl." "Girls, Skirts, Boots, Bikes" is about, well, girls who wear skirts and boots while riding bikes. And in "She’s Red" you can listen to the Buck Brothers ramble off names of celebrity redheads in a cool Punk fashion. Have a listen to their tunes here.

The trio from London, UK, is family, but aren’t brothers according to bloodlines. Andy Duke (Vocals/Bass), Pete Sellers (Guitar/Vocals), and Alice Bones (Drums/Vocals) launched the band in January ’05 after meeting at, strangely enough, a Buddhist Disco. After the chanting started, the guys fled, only to discover they had a lot more in common than ending up at the wrong place together.

The band has described themselves as, “Incredibly catchy or annoyingly hummable,” on their Web site. Buck Brothers have “sounds that your mother wouldn't openly approve of, but would secretly sing to herself on the quiet."

The debut North American EP release, The World According to Buck, is available now. Buck Brothers were also nominated as Best International Artist at the Toronto Indie Music Awards and Duke also presented the award for Best Alternative Artist, so it seems the band is sealing their mark on Toronto, if not the rest of Canada yet.

The full-length album, Me, is to be released in January 2007 across Canada. The guys will be in town to promote on March 10, ’07 as a highlight of Canadian Music Week at the High 4 Records party.
