The winning band will air AGAIN on next week's episode.
The bands this week:
BE YOUR OWN PET (Performing: "Let's Get Sandy (Big Problem)) - Four close friends started the band in Nashville, TN in 2003. Although they're all young, they still know how to rock like they've been playing for years. Some musical influences include Iggy and the Stooges and T-Rex. Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore signed the band to his label, Ecstatic Peace/Universal. Check out Be Your Own Pet's 2006 self-titled debut album, and look for their latest release Get Awkward.
JEFF TAYLOR (Performing: "Heart Hard") - Jeff Taylor was born and raised in the northeastern region of the United States. He has written/composed a number of songs, all of which feature beats from The Dark Past. The other members of his band, Mark Guiliana (drums), Rob Hecht (fiddle), and Nick Morrison (bass), are also talented songwriters in their own right. For more information on these people and their music, including details on upcoming live performances, please visit www.DumpsterHunter.com.
BUCK BROTHERS (Performing: "Girls Skirts Boots Bikes") - This trio hailing from London, England met in January 2006. Soon after this, they started making music and created their distinct punk rock sound. Buck Brothers toured extensively, including shows with The Buzzcocks and Babyshambles. To mark their debut album Me, on March 5, 2007, they broke a Guinness World Record for 'highest number of gigs in twelve hours'. They played a total of 28 shows back to back.
DAVID FORD (Performing: "Go To Hell") - British singer/songwriter David Ford started out in a band called Easyworld. They split up in 2004, and in 2005, David began writing solo music. His sound is reminiscent of Tom Waits and Neil Young. David's debut album I Sincerely Apologize For All The Trouble I've Caused was released in 2005. The songs on this album are based on David's philosophy that "sh*t happens. But if it doesn't kill you, get up and keep moving forward". Pick up David's latest release Songs For The Road, out now.
THE CLIKS (Performing: "Oh Yeah") - The Cliks is a quartet from Toronto, Canada that formed in 2004. Fronted by the talented and charismatic Lucas Silveira, the original line-up released their self-titled debut in 2004. By 2005, this original line-up broke up. Since then, 3 new members have joined Lucas. Through the years, Lucas has been through a lot, and has said: "sometimes you have to go down to get back up again". The Cliks' latest album is Snakehouse, and they're currently on their second True Colors Tour, featuring Cyndi Lauper and sponsored by the Logo TV channel.
ELBOW (Performing: "Grounds For Divorce") - This quintet from Manchester, United Kingdom has been playing ever since they met in college in the early 1990's. They have a unique indie-rock sound, with lyrics inspired by certain political events and the media's behavior in recent years. Although Elbow has been on a few different record labels, they still manage to release great albums. Be sure to pick up their latest effort, The Seldom Seen Kid (out now on Geffen Records).
