Randyby Anonymous (no login)Is Randy coming back next season? I hope so he is a wonderful goalie and I love those splits of his. |
Re: Randyby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Randy, Rob Zepp and Daniel Boisclair will all report to the Lowell Lock Monsters camp along with Jean-Marc Pelletier who played last year for Lowell. Currently, Irbe and Weekes will be the back up tandum for the Canes, and I don't think that will change. JMP has the starting position in Lowell pretty well locked up unless he plays like an ametuer during training camp. The other three will compete for the back up position in Lowell. I really expect Randy to land that job. He's one of the Blades that really earned a promotion to the AHL. I'm sorry to see him go, but I also don't want to step on his dreams of playing in the NHL someday. That would pretty much leave Zepp and Boisclair to the Blades. Both are top Canes prospects who have won championships at the junior level. Hopefully, these two will develop along the lines that are projected for them, and we should have an excellent netmind duel for next season's playoff run. |
i almost forgotby steve (no login)does that mean we are noyt going after matile?i wish he would come back, had that great laid back attitude |
re: I almost forgotby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner We are contractually obligated to take two goaltenders from the Carolina Hurricanes. Last year is it was Zepp and Petruk. Mattile was a free agent signing. It's not a matter of liking of not liking Mattile, there's just no room for him. |
New Goalieby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner I'd previously posted the rumor to the Mailing list, but it's now a done deal. Our goaltending tandum should be Zepp and Boisclair for the new season: Carolina Hurricanes-- Signed goaltender Daniel Boisclair to a three-year contract. Stats: http://www.bladesfans.com/playerpages/boisclair.html Photos: http://www.geocities.com/kasper5fan/boisclair/danielboisclair01.html As for Daniel...think of him as a young Patrick Roy and you should have a good idea of his playing style. |
goalieby steve (no login)was Boisclair here last year on tryouts?, he looks familier, if its him i was talking to him and he said he wasnt old enough last year to get an nhl contract.he was a very nice young fella , very pleasant, though my 2 kids had a hard time understanding him with the french canadien accent :) |
re: goalieby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Yes, that's the guy. He's a sweetheart! |
Re: New Goalieby Sunzhyne (no login)Is it too early to start praying????????? |
Re: New Goalieby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner And here I was wondering if it's too early to start getting excited yet! |
Uh ohby (no login)I thought that the Everblades had plans to put together their own team this year, a solid group of guys with very few players in the farming category. If this kid is going to be the new back-up goalie, I doubt that the team will achieve any degree of stability. Matile is the kind of player who can really get in there and make the game -- well, that's what he did this past season/post-season, toward the end of the year, anyway. I think two very young goaltenders being on the team spells another year of problems in the net. Not to be overly critical of this young man, but his stats indicate that he hasn't had a winning season, while, on the other hand, I've seen the good playing that Matile is capable of. Lindsay, and so on and yeah -- welcome to another year of player farming. Also, I wonder how the organization can consider Blaznek as unworthy of a return (or, they made comments indicating some such notion after the season). Blaznek kicked the royal rears of goaltenders and defencemen in the play-offs with a good chunk of point-scoring, meanwhile the auto-return, free-pass, "rookies" are headed back to the team because their having played "with heart." How much more heart can you have than what Buckley and Blaznek did in the play-offs without the skilled centerman on their line (Andrew Long)? Anyway, those are some of my thoughts on where the team seems to be headed. Too bad about the change in plans. |
re: Uh ohby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Whatever gave you the idea we weren't going to be a farm team? |
That's not what I said.by (no login)The organization indicated to the press toward the end of the season that they planned on having a more steady line-up this season. Not that they wouldn't have the AHL/future-NHL guys going back and forth. That can't be helped, to a point. But they did say something to the effect that they planned on having a good portion of steady players (I believe they said something like over ten). I have posted multiple comments which should not be confused. I know that some of the players are here based upon their potential, they are here to improve. But, at the same time, others are here because of their current skill and ability. If the balance is thrown in favor of the potential, or farm, players, there will be a certain type of team (merely, a farm team). On the other hand, the team could instead bring together a good mix of players, some of whom are skilled in terms of this minor league, ECHL, quality hockey players in their own right who are not being prepared for the higher leagues, others who are working on their game to eventually head up to AHL or even NHL. Okay, if this league, ECHL, is MERELY a farming league, and not to be taken at face value as a real competitive collection of serious teams composed of skilled players in their own right, I am mistaken. Otherwise, I say the Everblades are NOT merely a farm team. Otherwise, they should choose the best men for the job (in addition to fertilizing the soil of potential AHLers). |
Tom Buckleyby Liz (no login)Reading some of the comments on this site re Tom make me very sad to be a fan. Tom has a right to a life off the ice and the fact that he married someone from our area is great. If you have ever been to Heather's store, you can see nothing was given to her. She works hard and deserves all the success she has and will have. As far as Tom and his level of play, last time I heard-hockey is still a team sport. You can't win a game all by yourself and you don't lose a game all by yourself. The one thing that stands out to me about Tom is that smile on ice. He looks like he loves the game. He makes it look like it is always enjoyable-even after a bad call by the ref or a crunching hit. I hope Tom comes back, he is an important player to our team and we should feel happy that we have had the chance to watch someone play who loves the game as much as him. Do opinions really need to be so hateful as the ones I have read on this site? |
I completely agreeby Buckley fan (no login)I think Liz said it better than any of us could have. They both work hard and deserve what they have. I hope Tom returns next season. |
Re: Tom Buckleyby Sunzhyne (no login)Im with you! It isn't anyone elses business what Tom has or what he doesn't have. That doesn't make him a good hockey player. And, as for the nonsense about him not being excited to play hockey, it's just that, nonsense. I had the shear pleasure of watching Tom and Terry on the ice with 25 kids. My son was there with them, and I would say, no one was having more fun than Tom was. He just loves that game, and even though he told me so, he didn't have to. I saw the joy in his face. One other thing, does it matter whether some of these guys have parents with money? Rich girlfriends? No, it doesn't. And, I do believe he was the top scorer last season. Am I wrong???? Fan favorite? I do believe so. I'll leave it at that! |

NHL ALL STAR GAMEby HOCKEY FAN (no login)DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THE TICKETS FOR THE ALL STAR GAME WILL GO ON SALE?? DOES ANYONE THINK THAT IT WILL GO ON SALE WHEN REGULAR TICKETS GO ON SALE |
Nettingby Laney (no login)What is everybody's opinion of the netting probably coming to Teco. Accoording to the article in the Naples News, it will most likely be black similar to baseball nets. I am not opposed to the netting but I do not like the idea of black at all. I dont see how black netting will not interfere with being able to see clearly especially against white ice and a black puck. |
Re: Nettingby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner According to the NHL, they don't know what color the nets will be and they don't know who will be making the nets yet. There are a lot of variables still to be worked out. I've watched games through netting before and after the initial shock of it being there, you just sort of start ignoring it. Rumor has it that the netting will be woven from nylon fishline and will be extremely transparant and hard to see, not at all like the big black mess they use at baseball games. The netting will effect the people in the endzone and the cornerzones. If you are concerned that this is going to effect your view, please contact your season ticket holder rep and request your seats be moved. |
buckleyby heather (no login)First off, where we live should not be public knowledge but thanks to you all, it is. Secondly, Tom and I work very hard in our careers and things aren't just handed to us. I have been in business for six years now and have been very fortunate so far in being somewhat successful. We pay bills just like everybody else. I wish, like most people, to have million dollar home. A boat? Yeah, I would like one to. Lastly, did Tom not lead the team in scoring last season? It seems that he must of been doing something right. Just look at his stats. |
i'm sureby Taylor (no login)Someone did the same thing pretending they were Heather Buckley last summer. Its really childish if you ask me. Dont pretend to be someone you arent. But if you really are Heather...I'm sorry. I just very much doubt that she would post something on this board to stir up controversy. |
buckleyby Laney (no login)Not all of us felt the information should have been posted however, i am happy to see that the orignal post was edited to some degree. I said it before and i will say it again...for a player that led the team in points there is no way he can be the worse player on the team. I hope he does come back and i hope he plays his best hockey yet |
Buckleyby Buckley Fan (no login)I give Heather alot of credit for standing up for her husband. I have talked to Heather and Tom a few times and they are both great people, very salt of the earth. It shouldnt matter how much money they have or where they live if Tom plays well and puts his heart out there every game he plays. I hope Buckley comes back next year just to show what he can do. Im proud of you for speaking up Heather. |
Re: buckleyby (no login)I agree with you 100% i was one of the people who were saying it shouldnt matter what you an Tom have . I think he is a great player an i am not just saying that cause he is your husband . I think each guy has something to bring to the team an that is why they are all on the team . |
buckley?by bucksbuddy (no login)buckley? doesn't he drive around in a porsche? i swear i have seen him in one. and if it wasn't for reggie berg he wouldn't have gotten all his points.i see him at the course all summer that doesn't seem to me like he is working that hard in comming back to a repeat perfomance. but maybe iam way off. but i don't think so. |
reggie berg/buckleyby Laney (no login)according to the internet hockey data base, reggie only played 29 games last season with the blades so i dont think buckley's points all stemmed from berg. |
Critiques with closed eyesby (no login)I agree, Laney. A lot of folks are ignoring the facts when they criticize Buckley and other players on the team. Buckley could handle passes well from not only Berg; he could handle them from Long, McDonald, Thompson, Blaznek, and so on. I saw it with my own two eyes, and so did many others. |

Hurricanes first pick?by blades fan (no login)Why did Carolina Draft another Goaltender?? Dont we have enough?? Where are they going to send this one? |
Draftby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner I expect they'd have to sign Cam Ward first. They've not been really good about doing that and there are some rules governing this. Moss is leaving the organization this year as a free agent which leaves JMP in Lowell with Randy going up there to back him up. Zepp will start in net for Florida. After that, they have two prospects (not counting the new kid) that aren't under contract yet. Macon's goaltender last year, Chris "MadDog" Madden was a Carolina draft pick that they never signed. Once they lost his rights (a team holds the rights to a player they have drafted for two years), he became a free agent and was able to sign with whatever team he got the best offer from. All the draft does is give you the rights to a player for two years. After that they must be signed OR they go back into the draft OR they become a free agent. (A player cannot rejoin the draft after the age of 21.) Ward is only 18. He can play up to three more years of Juniors, although the Canes can sign him to play on one of their minor teams after the age of 20. Prior to that he still has Junior eligibily left and so they can't sign him unless he is going to play in the NHL. (Athletes have Junior Major eligibility left through the age of 20. After that they can play one year of Junior Major hockey as an overaged player. This rule does not apply to Europeans, who can be brought over at any time with the aproval of the IIHF, which is almost always given.) Craig Kowalski, the excellent netminder we had the priveledge of watching during the College Classic this last winter, must be signed by the Hurricanes this year or he will be back in the draft next year (unless there is some obscure rule about college kids that Arlene and I never heard of.) Daniel Boisclair, one of the young goaltenders we drafted last year has another year of Junior Majors left, so they won't look to sign him until the 2003-04 season. I saw Boisclair at Canes camp last summer and I thought he looked excellent as well. I'm very excited by the goaltending prospects the Hurricanes have, especially as most of the goalie-kids have a good chance of coming to Florida before they progress up to the AHL. I hope that helps some. I know that the whole draft/rights/contract thing can be very confusing. |
Boosters & "Adopt-a-player"by (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner An un-named fan had suggested the following: "And to those of you who want to help the players. Give them a gift directly. Then 100% of your money is going to your goal. If you don't want to give money give dinner gift certificates or phone cards." Its a great suggestion, but there are problems inherant with the system. You're going to adopt a player. Great! Who are you going to pick? Your favorite most likely, right? Let's face it. Some players are much more popular then others. So one player suddenly has five people "adopt" him while another player maybe gets nothing or has only one family looking out for him. And let's face it, the more popular players are already getting more money in their paychecks then the rookies , and really need the help less then the new guys do. It's nice to say "Pick a player who isn't a fan favorite and you will really make a difference and possibly a friend." But how many people will do that? The other problem is that some families can afford to spend more on their player then other families can. So again, it's not really fair to all the players, is it? The Booster Club does several things. One thing is, all of the players get the something and in most cases, all of the players get something of the same value as their team mate got. It's spread out, and it doesn't create any hard feelings amongst the guys. The other thing was that because the money was coming out of 100 or 200 people's pockets, the guys ususally got MORE then they would have if it was just one family supporting them. Plus yes, the Boosters set up the apartments and helped the players out in many different ways then just with gifts. So adopting a player is not a long run solution. And finally, you're going to have families with a lot of money to spend on their player and will probably spoil them with the extras they get them. The player is going to feel some sort of gratitude to them and will feel like they need to spend more time with this family to make up for it; where as someone who can only buy him a few snacks now and then, doesn't get as much, or any attention. Basically, you will have people trying to buy their friendship with a player. I think that's a sad statement on the part of the people that do it, but it will happen. Myself, I would rather see some sort of governing structure in place then a one-on-one player adoption system. I've just seen it done and I've seen it get out of hand before, and I'd hate to see our team torn apart because the players start resenting one another based on the community support they are getting. |

Schedule?by GopherFaninSWFL (no login)When is the Blades Pre-season and Regular Season being Released? |
re: Scheduleby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner The league meetings are being held in Las Vegas starting on Friday, but I really don't expect to see some sort of schedule until mid-August at the EARLIEST. That's when I got it last year and there were still some changes made to it after that. |
Peter Renyoldsby Ceece (no login)On the front page of this web site it had Peter Renyolds in Carolina Gear, could it be possible he is the first Everblades player to play in the NHL? |
Re: Peter Reynoldsby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Th picture of Peter Reynolds was taken during the Carolina red and white scrimmage last year at TECO. Reynolds has not yet made it to the NHL. I was just looking for a shot of an Everblade in a Carolina uniform and that's the decent first one I came across. The first Everblade to play in an NHL game is Eric Boulton, who currently plays for the Buffalo Sabres. Stats at http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=23908 Bolton is the only Everblades alumni who has played in the NHL on a regular basis. The second Everblade to make it to an NHL game was Eric Manlow. Eric just finished up his contract with the Bruins, but they are hoping to re-sign him for the current season, so look for Eric to be on the ice, along with former Everblade Jeff Maund when the Florida Panthers take on the Boston Bruins right here in TECO arena on October 2, 2002! Eric Manlows stats: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=10171 Former Everblade Greg Koehler played in one game for the Hurricanes in the 2000-01 season. His stats are at http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=29310 Randy Petruk did dress for a Carolina game earlier this year and served on the bench as a back up goalie, but did not see any on-ice action. |
Re: Peter Reynoldsby Sunzhyne (no login)And, what about Greg Kuznik, and Greg Koehler? Didn't they both dress for NHL games?????? |
Peter Reynoldsby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner I covered Koehler, but you are correct, Kuznik also appeared in one game in the NHL for Carolina: Stats at http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=28885 I think the main thing I remember from that time frame is the mix up between the Mike Ruscinskis. Carolina's Ruscinski went up for a spell but never played, while Everblade alumni Mike Rusckinski never made it that far. |
And while we're at it...by (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Jeff Maund dressed for several games with the Chicago Blackhawks but didn't see any ice time. Jeff's agreement with Boston was a one year contract (completed) with a one year option which the Bruins are expected to excersise, so there is a good chance we'll see Maund for the Bruins pre-season game. He spent all of last year in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, but saw ice time only sparingly as he was serving as a back up. I think that about does it for former Everblades in the NHL except for exhibition games. |
What about...by Me (no login)What about Reggie and Pratt, or did they just dress for camp? |
Re: What about...by (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Training camp and exhibition games only. Remember Mags dressed for a Canes exhibition game too. I can't keep track of all the formers who have played in NHL exhibition games because they often don't put the game rosters up on USA Today for those. |
Which 10???by Kennedy&Sophie (no login)Does anyone know which players have signed on for next season? Is anyone still in town? |
Re: Which 10by (no login)Well as far as I know Rob Zepp is the only one that I have heard as a definite. I haven't heard about anyone else as a definite but they are saying that they want to keep 10. The last I heard Buckley is still waiting to decide on retiring. The only players that I know are still in town are Buckley because he lives here with his wife. Also Lindgren is in town, but from what I hear he is training to be a fireman so who knows if he will play next season. I guess we just have to wait and find out. |

RE Buckleyby (no login)the last i heard it was still up in the air an he was waiting to see what mr brush had to offer |
RE: Buckley Retireby Section 106 (no login)We can only hope he retires. He married the daughter of one of the richest men in Collier county. His home at a local private, gated community was given to him, his boat and cars. He has more than any NHL player, so what motivation does he have to put it all on the line? To skate in the NHL? We all know he has the passing and shooting skills, but way too slow on the skates. Stay home with Heather, Tom.
|
Re: RE: Buckley Retireby (no login)who cares who buckley is married to. An how much money he has. An how he has everything he may want. But if he still wants to play . Thats great I dont think u should insulting him just because he may be better off then some of us in his life with his wife . He seems to enjoy the game of hockey.i think he is a great player . so i hope he dont retire an play for us again.I think we should be supporting the guys no matter what there personal life is like . i would care if he was a poor guy on the street as long as he plays well and puts his heart in the game I think thats all that counts |
Re: Buckley Retiresby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner But that's just it. He DOESN'T put his heart into his game. He's perfectly content to be a big fish in a little pond. Buckley has the skill sets and talent enough that he should be playing at the AHL level at least. In an interview back during the second season he stated that he couldn't take the pressure up there anymore and that he enjoyed playing with the Everblades because hockey was "fun" again for him. He's not putting out game after game. Or as Fleming yelled at him after he chased him off the ice during one practice "If you don't want to play hockey, get off the ice!" He also doesn't bring leadership to the team. While he should be the one setting an example to the rest of the guys with getting up early, doing the extra work that Fleming wants and so one and so forth, he's more then happy to come in collect his paycheck and go on out to play golf. While I understand he took a pay cut to play here last year, he still gets a lot of money that we could use to sign players that are actually interested in the team and in playing the game. Give me Brent MacDonald or Lee Ruff any day of the week. IMHO, it's time for Buckley to hang up the skates. As for Section 106 -- Amen Brother! |
RE: Bukley Retireby Laney (no login)I think you might be slipping a little bit Dianna. Section 106's comments are inappropriate. He did not need to address anything personal about Buckley's home life. It has nothing to do with his playing status and reveled more than the public needed to know. I believe I remember a post from a long time ago that stated you got emails from all the young girls wanting to know where the players lived and you would never give out that info....I think they all now know where Buckley lives. I believe that you should remove Section 106's comments or at the very least, it is a posting that should have been edited. |
Re: Buckley Retireby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner I think if you can find your way directly to Buckley's house from that post more power to you. I think the point that Section 106 was trying to make was that given his marriage, what is Buckley's motivation for playing the game? It's not money. That much we're sure of. It's not getting to the NHL -- he's already stated he can't handle the pressure. So it's what? That he likes all the attention he gets locally from it? What Section 106 posted was basically what a lot of people at the Arena already know. It's never been a secret. For those that didn't know, maybe it will open some eyes about the guy and they'll stop looking a pretty face and stop whating him play through rose color glasses. |
Re: Re: Buckley Retireby marie (no login)Maybe its his love of the game for hockey .thats why he is in a mens league rigt now . it seems to me he likes the game. and i agree with laney u should have fixed that post. or maybe u didnt because u agree .and you dont really care if buckley plays for us or not.It just seems to me you have a proablem ith alot of the people of the team i see a lot of post of u insulting one player or another. or even the coach . The way i feel is if you love the everblades as much as you say . why insult our team? I am a fairly new to thewhole everblades thing since i only lived here for3 years an been going to games for 2. buti woul nver think of insultig the team or anyone on it no matter what . i feel you should not insult them if you cant do what they do everyday |
Re: Discussionsby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Maybe it's because I've been around longer and been exposed to different influences then you, but most of the mailing list and teams I have followed were happy to discuss this player or that player, that they were doing right, or wrong, the coaching, the staff etc. The Tiger Sharks list @&%#%ed about EVERYTHING from the cost of parking to the $5.00 donation for the B&W preseason game. The Florida Panthers list can be brutal, and the list owner can be one of the worst people for ripping the team. Yet he's been a season ticket holder from the beginning and one of their biggest supporters. The attitudes here are different, but then those attitudes seem to come from the younger fans. Maybe after you've worked for a living for a while, and started laying your own money down on the table for your tickets, you'll feel differently. My feeling is, I lay my money down and if I'm not happy with the product I'm seeing on the ice, I feel I have a right to voice my opinion. As for what Section 106 wrote, it could have been worse. He stated facts about the player, much like the facts of Peter Worrell's arrest record were stated on the Florida Panthers' list. (Arrests in Florida, are BTW, available to the public, and you can even look them up on the web, if you're so inclined.) Please realize that everyone is not in love with the guy the way his more loyal fans on this message board are, but honestly I think that posting was appropriate for another reason. Given the number of posts we've had about "adopting a player" in the wake of the booster club, I wouldn't want some kid scraping up money to adopt Buckley, when he's the last person on the team who neeeds it. Also keep in mind that while I disagree with YOUR opinions, I was happy to let YOUR posts go through as well. |
Re: message should have been edited.by Stacy (no login)I agree with laney that message should have been added. There was no reason to bring Tom Buckley's personal life in on the message boards. It shouldn't matter how much money he has and how he got. There was certainly no reason to put where he lives and how much you think his house is worth. That message should have been edited. Section 106 has every right to think that wasy about buckley but there was no reason to advertise the info. Dianna you should have edited that message. I personnally hope that Tom stays on the team now just because section 106 thinks he should retire, tom should show him up. |
RE: Buckleyby Laney (no login)The point to my message and opinion that it should have been edited had nothing to do with being a Buckley fan or not. The personal marriage asset info WAS and IS inappropriate and does not belong on the message board period. As to being a "young" fan, sorry I am 48 years old. My opinion was based soley on the reading of Section 106 and felt that the information didnt belong here and my comment to Dianna stemmed from the big message that used to be at the start of the message board something about personal attacks on players and others. The information was personal, very personal and did not need to be there in order for the poster to get their opinion across. The information may be general knowledge around the areana, however it didnt and doesnt belong here. As to whether Buckley should retire or not, I am not sure. I do believe there was a differnce in the way he played last year. I dont know if there is a problem with the coach or not but I will say that there appeared to be problems between several players and the coach as you posted as well on your April 14th post regarding the coach. Last year I believe there were alot of players picking up paychecks and going golfing or to the beach. It just seems that when a player leads the team in points he cant be the worse player on the team. Oh and one more thing, arrest records are public record, bank accounts are not. And you get a creative young person and they will figure out where he lives from that infomation and maybe a creative person could find out anyways, but they sure dont need any help. |
get your facts rightby heather (no login)First off, Tom and I work very hard in our careers. Things are not just handed to you. Where we live is no one's business, nor should it be public knowledge, but thanks to you, it is. You obviously do not know what you are talking about. I have my own business in which I work very hard at and have been very fortunate in being somewhat successful at. We pay bills just like everyone else in the world. Secondly, I find it very funny that you found it necessary to even write about Tom and his family. "Cars, boats, etc..." where are you going with this? Do you not have a car? Is Tom fortunate because he has a car? A boat? No, we do not have a boat, but alot of people here in Southwest Florida do. |
re:get your facts right.by (no login)I say way to go Mrs Buckley. I think Tom works hard on the ice. I agree that the info that was on that post was nobody's business. It shouldn't matter what you have or what you dont the only thing that matters is how tom plays on the ice. Like you said he was our leading scorer so he can't be that bad of a player. I have met Tom at Season ticket party's and he always seems to be nice to all the fans. I have seen him come out of the locker room and sign autographs and turn around and say "Did I miss anyone" before he walked away from the locker room area. He made sure everyone had an autograph. I have even heard rookie's say that they were warned before coming out of locker room to make sure they sign autographs. So I don't understand why anyone thinks that Tom's heart isn't in the game. I just read an article how he is playing in a men's league and he is teaching hockey camp w/ Terry Lindgreen. His heart is obviously in the game. So I hope to see Tom on the team this year, I was even thinking if he didn't want to play he may be a great Assistant Coach since position is open now. Thanks for setting things straight. Stacy |

fan clubby sunzhyne (no login)Mr. Brush did not act appropriately with the recent problems the booster club had. If he says that he did, it's only to make himself feel better. Im sure the higher ups have told him to do something about it, and to not embarass himself anymore than he already has, someone thought of the fan club. It's too bad he couldn't bring himself to apologize for an ambush! Let's all hope that the Blades fan club will be a whole lot better than the Blades kids fan club. That was a joke! Did anyone notice that the majority of the letters that went out, were to people in Trenton, Macon, Greenville, and so on. He needs to get a clue, or at least borrow one. |
re: fan clubby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Please keep in mind that the events related in the May newsletter are one side of the coin. I wasn't there. You weren't there. If you recall there was an incident in December between the Junior Everblades and the FEBC. I believe this is where the police reports and affidavits come into play and I believe this was also a portion of the contention between the FEBC and the Blades. Exactly what BRR had to do with that and why she had gotten involved still remains a mystery to me. (And frankly, I don't care. the girl has been nothing but rude to me since she was brought to my attention.) The FEBC did put in a lot of hard work for the club and the players and while no one put in more time and more effort then the Coopers, I can't sit back and say they were complete victims in this. The newsletter is THEIR side of the story. We don't know what the Everblades side of the story is. I did find it interesting however that some of the language used in the May newsletter (i.e. "Do you have a life?" and "You are on a power trip.") are the same as certain posts from "Gordo" which have since been deleted from this forum. The Coopers were Gordo fans. You have to wonder how they feel about their friend now. While many other ECHL booster clubs were out begging for meeting space, the Blades were always kind enough to provide them with a room at TECO arena. The Coopers were allowed into the arena early to set up their club table (not all clubs get that consideration from their venues). I've had my run in with the FEBC management, having been relieved of my duties as webmaster of the BC site some time ago, and I know I'm not the only one. If you review your newsletters, you'll notice that Doug Byington resigned as Treasurer and webmaster before the end of the season. While his resignation may have been prompted by time constraints, I do recall the husband of their former secretary coming up to me earlier in the season. "My wife is no longer secretary of the booster club. The Coopers finally pissed her off." Or as my good friend Josh stated, "You've got to hand it to the Coopers. If it wasn't for our mutual dislike of them, we never would have become friends." As for myself, Mr. Brush has always been pleasant to me as has all of the Everblades staff. Anyway, this message is not intended to be a gripe about the FEBC. What I am trying to say though, is that before you as a fan condemn the Everblades organization, perhaps you should hear their side of the story. |
Re: re: fan clubby sunzhyne (no login)FYI: The police reports and affadavits have nothing to do with the incident in December with the Jr. Everblades. Nothing. |
RE: fan clubby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner I've finally had the time to go over the backup information sent to me by Mark Cooper on the incident. The best I can say is both of the parties involved in this matter acted in an immature manner and that it is unfortunate that one of them felt the need to involve Mr. Brush in this incident. Both parties should have their ears boxed and be send to face the corner for ten minutes each. As for Mr. Brush, since BRR felt the need to be a tattle-tale, I suspect someone had to step in and take over the parent role. |
fan clubby (no login)I heard from a great source that there is plans for a fan club . which will be started soon . i hear a note went out about it today |
RE: fan clubby Laney (no login)Yes a note did go out via email from craig brush. the fan club will be called the blades fan club and more information will be available in the next few weeks with registration in the fall. It also stated that Mr. Brush felt he conducted himself in an appropriate manner during the incident that caused the close of the booster club. I received this message from Mr. Brush so I am stating from his email. |
re: Fan Clubby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Yes, but a "fan club" especially one run by the team is a little different from a booster club. The Florida Marlins & the Miami Dolphins have a "fan club" in which you pay your money to the team and get a cap and various other perks for your membership dollars. Probably the best one is the Dolphins who offer priority seating at practice, plus special receptions, autograph opportunities and the like. The Marlins one is kind of weak, compared to that. A booster club is not actually related to the team and is a separate entity, although they should work in conjuction with the team. The main purpose of a fan club is to give the fans something extra to keep them happy. The main purpose of the booster club is to the the players the extra help they need when they are with the team. I am reminded, BTW, of the Everblades Kids Club of the second season, which never took off.
|
RE: fan clubby Laney (no login)So the bottom line is a booster club is still needed?? My thoughts are yes. Any others? |
fan clubby sunzhyne (no login)Yes, I was there, and if someone is interested in starting up a new Booster Club, let me know. Im all for helping the guys, and a fan club simply won't be doing that. Any membership fee the club would charge would be going back to the Everblades organization, not the players. The players are the ones who need support, not management. |
Re.Fan clubby (no login)Yes, your help is needed. Let's get together and see if the Booster can get a restart. Let me know

Re: fan clubby A Fan (no login) You may not agree with how Mr Brush handled this situation but at least he handled it in private. He did not use a public forum to express his own views. He did not allow his personal problems and opinions ruin things for a whole organization. And to those of you wanting to start a new booster club, you can only do so with the permission and cooperation of the team. I think that in view of the problems that there have been in the last 4 years that is extremely unlikely. I am sure the reason for the fan club is so that they can quiet people wanting a booster club while remaining in control. Unfortuanately because the name is Florida Everblades Booster Club anything the club and its officers do reflects on the whole organization. And to those of you who want to help the players. Give them a gift directly. Then 100% of your money is going to your goal. If you don't want to give money give dinner gift certificates or phone cards. Pick a player who isn't a fan favorite and you will really make a difference and possibly a friend. You don't need to go to a booster club function to meet a player. They are very accesible after the games or a practise. Another way to help the team is to bring people to a game. Introduce people to the game you love. The honeymoon period is over for the blades and with the continued playoff woes I expect we will see a dip in attendance this year. The best way to have continued success is to keep fans in the seats so that we remain an attractive place to play hockey. Just my two cents for what thats worth these days! |
Re: fan club message from A FANby (no login)"You may not agree with how Mr Brush handled this situation but at least he handled it in private." I agree with this statement 100%. He does have to look out for the image of the Florida Everblades. "And to those of you wanting to start a new booster club, you can only do so with the permission and cooperation of the team." I am one of those members who wanted to start a new club because I was thinking about the guys on the team. I perfectly understand after what has just occured with the past booster club why they dont want a new one to start right now. "And to those of you who want to help the players." I am one of the people who want to help the players and after you suggestion about giving them the stuff yourself I agree. I have waited after games for players to sign stuff w/ my little cousins and myself. They are great bunch of guys. So I do know how much they appreciate it when you give them things or just tell them how great they played. So I think I am going to follow your advice and basically just choose a player on the team and give him stuff I think he might need. Sort of adopting him for the season. So just so you know, I think your two cents were worth at least a dollar. LOL. Thanks for the advice |
I AGREE!!by Linda (no login)What a great message!! I think it will snowball. GO BLADES!!! |
Re: Re: fan clubby Hockey Fan (no login)I completely agree with what you have posted..These guys appreciate anything that is done for them and are just the nicest guys you will meet. I think this whole "adopt-a-player" thing is a great idea..Just my two cents. |
Re: Fan clubby Laney (no login)Questions: Did the boster club do more than just give the players gifts? Did they not buy things to set up the apartments at the beginning of the season? Seems to me I read a list of things that the booster club put in the apartments based on what the players said would be nice to have. And didn't they also provide food for the bus on road trips? The reason I ask a couple of these questions is although it is nice to say "pick a player and buy the gifts yourself" I think there is more to it than that. I personally believe there has to be an organization of some sort that will be able to provide the appropriate things to all the players. I just see some flaws and potential problems with individuals picking a player. I do not know personally any one person on the booster club board so therefore i will not offer an opinion on who did what or what the problems were or who stepped out of line. I have always been treated nicely by every single person at the booster table with the exception of one and I think we all know who she is so based on my experiences with the booster club, I believe there needs to be a new one and both the club and the Everblades organization need to figure out a way to make it work. I do believe the booster club provided a needed service for the benefit of the players. |
Brent McDonaldby McDonald Fan (no login)Is there any word on if he will be on the team next year?
|
Re: Brent McDonaldby (Login bladesgal)Forum Owner Brent is still a Carolina prospect, so he will likely be assigned to Lowell if he does not play here. Need I say he would prefer playing in Lowell, but makeing it to the next level is most likely the dream of all of our Everblades players. Good luck to Brent in camp! I personally think he deserves a promotion! |
