"We seem to care more for the trivial than the important. People who
should mean much to us don't, while people who don't even know we
exist have become our idols. We overlook the faults of entertainers
and sports celebrities, but won't do the same for our own family
members. We might have multiple marriages, but we remain loyal to our
favorite team." --Chuck Baldwin
Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
> Your words are empty air.
> You've stripped away our heritage,
> You've outlawed simple prayer.
>
> Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
> And precious children die.
> You seek for answers everywhere,
> And ask the question "Why?"
>
> You regulate restrictive laws,
> Through legislative creed.
> And yet you fail to understand,
> That God is what we need!
Yes this poem says it all. There are too many school shooting incidents out there. Once you get one, you get a copy cat almost right away. Guns are far too accessible to kids and something needs to be done about it to force parents to lock up their guns so the children cannot get them.
"No Guns", you're mistaken. The percentage of guns in American homes has remained at around 50% over the past 30 years, yet school shootings were virtually unheard of 30 years ago.
Also, just 75 years ago, most every home contained firearms. Handguns, semi-automatics, shotguns, etc. were even more available then than they are today.(much fewer gun laws) Teens had more access to guns then than today. There was much less crime back then by youth.
When I was in high school, it was common to see guns hanging in the gun racks of student's pick-up trucks parked in the high school parking lot. Hunting and target shooting were popular after school sports. We never had a single incident of a school shooting nor an assault with a weapon on school property. If guns are so evil, why didn't our frequent access to them turn us into killers? When I look back, it was the kids who didn't participate in outdoor activities who ended up becoming criminals. Shooting sports taught us responsibility and maturity at an early age.
Also, states such as Wyoming, Oklahoma, Utah, Montana, etc. with high numbers of gun owners have much less crime than states with less gun ownership such as California, New York, Massachusetts, etc.
There is something wrong with society today. Guns have been part of our culture since the beginning of this country, yet the rise in youth violence is a recent problem. Don't surrender our rights or restrict our freedoms based on the acts of criminals.

No one learns from history, that is why we repeat it over and over again. We are heading to gun control like Germany had, like Russia had, like Turkey had, like so many others introduced and resulted in millions killed. That is the intent. The useful criminals are given more than their 15 mins. of fame for their acts as the media blows everything out of all proportion. Youth crime in general is way up. Violence involving guns increased. But also violence in general is up as mis-guided youth express their rage and contempt. God less, parentless society.
