....right after I exited the Air Force. I hve many good memories of Phoenix but I do recall the summer heat being wicked hot. There were record high temps in 1986 and 120 degrees is plenty unbearable. Especially in stand still traffic on the Black Canyon Freeway.
There are many good points to living in Arizona, mostly Mexican food and great fall, winter, and springtime weather.
El Molino's, by the airport, was one of my favorite Mexican restaurant's as well as La Pearla's in Glendale.
Personally, I'm hot and cold with my feelings towards Arizona. Maybe you could love it a little more if you live outside of congested Phoenix?

Yes Pete, Phoenix is definitely congested. I think you gave a fairly balanced perspective on how things were for you in the "hot parts" of Arizona.

Oh, and thanks for serving our great country in the Air Force!

Love, Steve

Well Jeep, I'm leaning towards creating a Louisiana Forum. What do you think about that?

Low desert Arizona in summer ,ugh

    June 4 2005, 11:23 PM

The cooler months are great to be outside, but the summer heat keeps most people indoors. When i went to school in Phoenix, seemed most students and people i met were hard-core partyers, trying to cool off with beer and cold alcoholic beverages. I was dismayed with the scene there. Very few i met did anything pertaining to health and wellness in Phoenix, until i moved back to the outdoors-oriented 4 Corners region again.

I don't think i could live in a low hot desert, even though i was born and raised in it. Wonderful place to hang out in winter, though.
