That age thing really blows.
I have a plan similar to yours Phil. I've got about three years of bills to pay then I was thinking of throwing the business away and settling into a 9-5 job somewhere. Actually, I have plans to work in a specific area of a new trade as an employee so that I could learn it and go out on my own a couple of years later, or if they found me too valuable then be in a position to negotiate. I started thinking about my age just a few days ago and wondered if I'd even be given an opportunity to work as an employee for a Fortune 500 company. (The place I was thinking is Fortune 500.)
You brought up the free thinking of a previous business owner in a corporate environment & I hadn't even thought that one out. I always assumed it'd be a bonus as a guy/gal that ran a successful business might know a few tricks to improve on a few items. Probably the wrong attitude to take as a grunt employee. I'll keep my mouth shut when & if I ever go for an interview.
There is my plan B which would be to take classes to learn my chosen trade but that costs money & doesn't pay while I learn.
Sheesh, I guess we could pass out shopping carts at Wal-Mart.
Oh, those "Cuban" cigars Phil has Tom, he bought those at a tobacconist in Juarez Mexico near a bull pasture. I'd be careful lighting one of those babies up. Oh, Phil had the best of intentions he's just a little green when it comes to a great cigar. Arturo Fuente's in my camp, baby.
