I'm not sure that I could ever leave Colorado permanently, but I could easily see myself spending all six winter months (November 1 to April 30) in a quaint small town in southern New Mexico or southern Arizona. Living in a large city like Tucson is also an option as well.

I did a current weather comparison of the following towns:

Buena Vista, CO - 46 degrees, cloudy and windy (much colder with the windchill; poor bicycling conditions)

Truth or Consequences, NM - 72, clear
Silver City, NM - 70, clear
Deming, NM - 72, clear

Clifton, AZ - 76, clear
Safford, AZ - 76, clear
Sierra Vista, AZ - 73, clear
Tombstone, AZ - 73, clear
Tucson, AZ - 78, clear

I think this is a great idea!

Especially after reading all your "informative posts", and some complaining posts, about the dreary, cold Colorado winter season. Since you do not partake in the joy of snow sports, there is no reason for you to suffer through a Colorado winter. I always thought that Flagstaff seemed like a very appealing little city. Have you been there?

Flagstaff

April 24 2007, 5:52 AM

Flagstaff is too cold and it's a lot like Colorado Springs in that the altitude is 6,000+ feet.

Nah, if I move to Arizona, it will be in somewhere in SOUTHERN Arizona. Thanks for the idea though!

Talk about the water being just fine....this weather grows on you, Steve. Although the heat is coming! This weekend temps are nearing 100. Sounds like the weather even the locals start to complain about is almost here.

Awesome

It's going to hit 100 degrees soon in Phoenix? That is awesome, Phil!

I better start communicating with Joel better because we will surely be celebrating on the first day it reaches 105 degrees in Tucson on my Cactus Web Site.
