I have been looking at this mountain since I got down here and noticed today what looked like a parking area to it from 16th Street. It happens to be Lookout Mountain and is part of the North Phoenix Preserve....which I have hiked in other parts of in the past.

Now being from Colorado, none of these hikes I have some have really been too strenuous...this mountain is only 2054 feet in elevation but the summit hike is pretty vertical ... only a little over a half mile. But it was 87 degrees!!

I have usually worn my sandals.....that was not wise on this hike!

Here is the trail as you approach the last part of it...

It has a fantastic 360 degree view from the top. The mountain in the distance is Squaw Peak, which I took pics of previously when I hiked it. It is located on the west end of the Preserve.

Now one thing that did remind me of Colorado....Lookout Mt. has some STEEP drop offs from the summit!! I'm talkin' straight down at least a few hundred feet. There is only one access to the top...the rest of it would be a technical climb!

And as our friend Steve would say....Here is one token picture of me LOL

Notice my HAIR! I had it CUT this am.....in continued protest of the communities HUGE vote against me!

Take that.

Oh my gosh! I've been letting mine grow!
That leg needs some sun but, I'm not one to make fun of a guy's pasty leg because I got two of them.

When you get acclimated to the heat, I need to catch up to you at Picacho Peak!

Life doesn't begin until it's over 105 degrees.

Phil, those are great photos.

And there is no reason to compare that mountain to anything else. Yes, it's "nothing" compared to Colorado's mountains, but it's still quite a workout and the desert is beautiful!

Looks like a very nice hike. I'll have to head out your way and experience a couple local hikes with you.
