I must confess, with a certain level of shame, that I have never visited the White Sands National Park. I have visited the Great Sand Dunes in southern Colorado, but to those of you who have visited both, do the Sand Dunes compare to White Sands?

I've got a friend in the semi-mountainous hills near Ruidoso whom I could probably stay with. Geez, I've got to get down there!

Love, Steve

were stationed at the missile proving grounds there before I was born.
They loved NM.

I wasn't able to see the white sands either when I was down there 3 years ago, or was it 4 years now? Can't remember will have to look it up.

I may have been there as a kid though, will have to ask the P's. I did see it from a vista though from up in the Sac Mountains. Does that count? :)

Also saw it when hiking on a ridge trail in 3 rivers petroglyphs near Tularosa. It was a FREE campground back then but alas now they charge fees. :(

I want to play in it, roll in it, hike in it, etc. It is the largest Gypsum sand dunes in the world I believe. Have to check out the space museam too.
