It's hard to explain, but living north of the CO/NM border, I sometimes get these cravings ... these stirrings in my soul to spend some time in the Land of Enchantment. I miss New Mexico!

What was Georgia O'Keefe's famous quote about New Mexico? I think it went something like "Living in New Mexico becomes an itch that doesn't go away", right? Someone help me!

Love, Steve

Sigh!

This morning I'm looking at photos of a lodge in Truth of Consequences. Man oh man, I love it there!

    Me too!

Yeah I get those cravings too! I have always been fascinated with new Mexico. I collect stuff that pertain to that State that I find locally in thrift stores. (There is a large Hispanic population where I live here in IL).

I was only there 3 times as a kid on vacations but decided to buy some property there. I have a few lots outside Deming, and on up in the Sacramento Mountains. I basically bought them for retirement purposes but use the for the occaisional vacation too.

Maybe build a house on them someday.

New Mexico is such a fascinating place, the desolate deserts, the glorious Mountains, haven't hit it's limited water areas yet. I love the climate and especially the LOW humidity despite the warm weather. We rarely have low humidity here near Chicago.

The last time I vacationed there was in february a few years ago. I remember just after entering the State line and feeling the humidity drop I said, YEAH!!! This feels good! Here near Chicago it feels like one is swimming in a bowl of steamy soup, high humidity. The sweat doesn't evaporate off of you, it, "rolls off".

I'd hate to feel what it must be like living in the gulf States or Florida. Blech!

The best time to come to NM is in October...Of coarse the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is the signature event but the many other activities with the green chilie harvest Mmmmmmmmmmm...You havent lived until you've smelled roasting green chilie down by the Rio Grande with a fantastic sunset to mezmorize you while your drinking a wonderful NM chardonay with friends, with a little hint of fall in the air....everything takes on a harmonious air.

    I love it here...

Hunter, welcome to the New Mexico Forum!

Man oh man, I am so jealous of you. You own property in Deming and the Sacramento Mountains. You know, I love Colorado with all my heart, but I could easily see myself becoming NewMexicoGuy.com someday.
