Living 20mi below the border of Colorado in Farmington,NM. I was going to have a new place of employment waiting for me there, but certain circumstances( bike accident) prevented me from grabbing the new opportunity. When i physically recover i'll try for the job again, and for the meantime will take a long vacation and eat lots of tamales+ posole'
I wrote that a few days after being released from the hospital. Even staying on the computer back then was limited to not more that 1/2 hour. My head also suffered a moderate head concussion and broken shoulder. Kind of surreal, thinking about my state of injury during this time. I still have some walking impediment, but the leg bone is almost completely healed and i can ride my bicyles again. No pain, but the ankle gets a little sore sometimes. I sure don't want to go through anything like that again. And living proof that helmets work!
Just looking back at how far you have come since I have known you is truly amazing. I remember a conversation in chat with a few of us when you thought you might LOSE your leg. (I will never forget that conversation) Look at you now! You are almost healed, on your feet and riding your bikes again.
You truly amaze me Dave. It takes a remarkable amount of strength and will to overcome what you have. I have told you many times that you are truly my hero and I mean that from my heart!
and your words of encouragement were inspiration for me, to continue fighting for that leg. It's mine, not the incinerators!
I saw some photos a few day ago, when staph infection was taking over. It didn't seem so horrifying to observe back then,as it did now. Now, i can function well and am walking without crutches or cane around the house. So thankful...
kidding.
I'm going to school so far, and things look pretty good in that department. Seems i may continue on, and finish a degree in progress. Eventually work part time, when disability funds are deemed not necessary.. Actually, the future is looking brighter as a result of the accident. This could be a hidden blessing in disguise!

I'm not wearing a bandage or dressings, as the wound has finally covered up, and antibiotics are not required now. I may be able to go swimming very soon too. Looks bumpy, and is recovering slowly but well.
I went to the hospital yesterday to visit a friend, and sort of felt like i was an admitted patient in there! Maybe a flashback episode. My brain has not quite absorbed the fact, that hospital stays are over for the most part. Maybe one more surgery to remove metal and perform tune-up work, but nothing major. It was also nice to see the personnel who helped me through my ordeal, and chatted with them for the first time without wearing a hospital gown

I'm very happy to hear that you're almost done with the surgeries. It can only get better from here!
