big time crook that is temporarily transferred to Mayberry jail .... and then once he and Gomer were guarding the ally behind the jail, and the bad guy broke their buddy out of jail. Gomer knocked a box of light bulbs off the roof and when they broke, they pop pop pop and the crooks stopped because they thought Barney and Gomer had machine guns.
