Because there are 1609.344 meters in a mile and distances are close enough so the acceleration factor is negligible you can multiply the mile time in seconds by the ratio of meters in the two event.
For example to convert 5 minute mile (300 seconds) the math is as follows.
300 X (1600/1609.344) = 298.23 or 4:58.23
I plan to put the mile times in a spread sheet, make the conversions, and repost with both the mile time and conversions. It was late when I posted yesterday so I just put up the mile times.
You're correct about 1500 to mile or 1600 conversions, there is no perfect way.
