In a 1500, they generally start you at the beginning of the backstretch. Only the first turn in not run compared to a full 4-lapper. The finish is in the same place as a 1600 or mile. I don't think that the mind set would be much different as to where a runner starts their finishing "kick". The pace of the race would have more of an impact on that regardless of whether it is a 1500 or mile. MileSplit uses a conversion factor of around 1.078. The quick and dirty conversion is 1.08. This has been used for years and I've never heard of it being disputed.
