Monday at midnight is last day to enter CIF finals If you need to change your entries or haven't entered yet, log onto your athletic.net site and enter up to 10 runners per race by midnight November 16th. After that entries will be closed and you'll have to deal with the CIF and pay a penalty to enter your team.

great to have knowledgeable and motivated officials at the throwing events. they could do a clinic on how to officiate the throws. a long day with many throwers and they remained patient and professional thruout. GOOD JOB hope to see you do it again at other invites. rb throwing areas good too. nice medals .

If you are planning on ranking teams, lets wait until aftr mt. carmel. Also until some league dual meets take place. I dont mean this as disrespect, but if you are gonna rank Granite Hills, you better put MT. MIGUEL in the top 10.
Posted on Mar 17, 2009, 7:58 AM from IP address 216.100.215.5
Ranking is based on whats has already been done. When the time comes for those meets and THE MT. shows up then they will go up. Simple as that, not to be disrespectful.
Posted on Mar 18, 2009, 9:38 AM from IP address 137.151.174.180
Then you better look at the Big Dual results, and ask the coaches at that meet how we look. We are the real deal buddy. We didn't run at bronco because we were getting ready for a meet in AZ. But if you need result check the paper this weekend. And watch closely at Mt. Carmel next week. Remember these names, Hoses Tate, Dylan Marx, and Derall Hunter. Plus if results are a factor, 2 of the guys I just mentioned helped our team get thrid in D-2 last year. And D Hunt is faster then Elliott Taylor who got 2nd in the 100m and 4th in the 200. So if you need results they will be provided for you shortly.

We know that they you have a good team. And we know that those guys as good, including Tate. But What I am saying is you just have to stay humble and not worry about people talking about your athletes let them just kick some a** on the track. Everyone gets underestimated all the time look at schools like Otay Ranch HS, Steele Canyon HS, Rancho Buenardo HS, these are all schools that were not in the lime light at first. Just continue to let those people work hard and get better then at CIF and STATE it will show.
Posted on Mar 23, 2009, 9:32 AM from IP address 137.151.174.180
I would simply like people to reconize that they do run track, in other areas, besides north county. And we are not looking for anyone to give us anything, we prefer to take the respect we want. NO one expects us to do anything but fail. This team is different and we are not the same old Mt. Miguel, and after this week, everyone will understand where we are coming from.
Posted on Mar 24, 2009, 8:46 AM from IP address 216.100.215.5
I hope you guys do well this weekend. I've been behind "THE MOUNT" for a while I didnt mean for this to be a going back and forth thing, but its all good. I'm an east county alumni and I know how it feels. I know that you guys will be fine though.
Posted on Mar 24, 2009, 11:43 PM from IP address 76.166.97.2
who ever wrote this post about being humble, your team probably has never faced the level of disrespect and low exoectation those kids have had at mt. miguel, so please dont give advice to someone when you have no idea what they go thru

in d2 where the same exact point total would have gotten 7th thus with two more teams from d2 ahead of u that u are just in or just outside the top 10 makes sense

like i said just wait and see we are getting way more points den last year.......last year we didn't have any points for relays and this year we will def. get points for both relays plus some of our field will get us points....and we have more sprinters

Thank you for the nice compliments about my announcing at Bronco on Saturday. However, it was not a solo effort. Anthony Garcia handled all the announcing of field events prior the start of the running events while I was setting up the second camera system at the finish of the 100's and 100/110 Hurdle races. Additionally, Matt Schubert announced all the 100's and 100/110 Hurdle races while I was manning the camera. Also, Matt was a tremendous help in spotting the various distance runners in relays that he knows by sight and I simply know "on paper."
The Bronco was a tremendous success this year as always and I was most impressed with the level of commitment shown by the RB staff and parents.
Good luck to everyone in their duals this week and I will see you...er....you will hear me this weekend at Torrey Pines for the Falcon Relays!

Tredale Tolver was in attendance at the Bronco Invite. Tredale was the 2004 CIF Champ in 200m and 4 x 100 for Mira Mesa. He ran for Coach Jones for 3 years prior to returning to MMHS for his senior year. Tredale was a a star for Cal Poly's football team this year, and is also running the 100/200 for Cal Poly in the spring. Going for a tryout at NFL pro day coming up soon. Good luck to him. Thanks for the update on Cal Poly Track, Coach Sweet!

It's been a while since I've ran. But it still amazes me how deep the talent in San Diego was 8-10 years ago. Every year there are always the standouts, but 99-2001 Cross county and track seasons were packed with amazing Distance and Middle Distance individuals and teams.
(and when I say packed. I'm talking anywere from 5-10+ individuals for the 800, 1600 and 3200 who would have been CIF Champion in any of the off years...) - I'm refering to the boyz bye the way.
As I've followed along occasinoally over the years the biggest thing I see lacking in San Diego is the depth; year after year we produce stars who represent us well each year at state. Most of the invatationals and the CIF "PRELIMS" (not finals, but PRELIMS) within San Diego just don't seem as competitive as they used to be.
Which brings up a good point. Do power house schools (and things fluctuate, so these schools are probably no longer the powerhouses) provide not only more talents runners, but and even ehnanced group?
When a school like West Hills who had 5 or more guys who can go sub 2:00 (and some sub 1:55 - again from 99-2001 they ran 7:50 in there 4x800!!!!!!) does this bring the competition level up a notch? It just makes sense that with a strong team, individuals will have more opportunities to "push" each other during workouts. Everyone knows how hard it is to find the motivation day after day when you're the only guy/girl on your team who is talented and willing working hard.
Posted on Mar 15, 2009, 4:33 PM from IP address 76.176.110.204
i dk last year RBV had 5 guys below 9:45 in the 2 mile that is pretty deep. Plus UC had what 4 guys under 2 for the 8 right. Torrey pines produced 3 state qualifiers in the 3 distances for girls. Though i do agree the depth of SD has been a little week i think this year might be an exception especially in the distances

crazy race yet again by fleet.
seemed to lead for the majority of the race then close the gap at the end. Guess springer just knew the strategy based on the last time the two met. and contact by mackie on that last lap?! warriorrrrrr!!!
Posted on Mar 15, 2009, 11:04 PM from IP address 72.197.211.104
after watching the video - the fella that tangled with Fleet was also the one that fell and then pushed another runner as he was getting back to the front pack...hope he was the one that got DQ'd because he interfered with like 3 other runners...
what is the verdict?
Posted on Mar 16, 2009, 6:07 PM from IP address 75.60.88.191
It looks like Brett Johnson (in red) was pushing inward quite a bit on Mac on the first turn. Mac is entitled to defend himself while being pushed. He really gave the guy a shove up the bank! Since Johnson appears in the results too (5th) there was no DQ. What's amazing is the recovery made by Johnson after going down a couple of laps earlier. It will be interesting to hear Mac's take on the war.
Posted on Mar 16, 2009, 8:47 PM from IP address 76.192.165.44
I was actually the one who was DQed, until about 15 minutes later when the meet manager reversed the call. Brett was pushing me onto the infield and after a couple elbows back and forth I figured i would just give him a shove, resulting in the yellow flag. (yeah it was probably a little excessive) but I was getting tired of it... Solid race none the less
that pic is from when brett went down with 2 laps to go, when he tried to split me and another guy...i guess he just stepped on me instead..

Steve Brand...Please un-retire. One glaring mistake from our meet yesterday...Our Boys 4 x100 ran 42.9, not 41.9. Many of our marks were reported, but not listed today. Some marks not accurate from what I reported. Just letting anyone know that may be keeping a Best Marks List.
Excellent 41.3 by Escondido Boys 4x100 yesterday. Hopefully not another mistake like our time was.
Steve Brand...come back.
Have a great Invite Weekend!

he is 32. Every coach in San Diego and the North County, along with all the administrators of the CIF went to a secret meeting were we all agreed that we would keep this secret so that Joe and Mission Hills could well in Track. In return everyone was promised money and a part in the film that will coming out shortly on Joe's life. Stay tuned for the preview coming to your local theaters. lol

...instead of athletes. They're not to keen on having kids call in times/distances/heights. Besides the mark needs to meet a minimum requirement. Talk to your coaches, they should know all of the particulars.

Some of you may notice that their are two more events listed in the meet program than on the time schedule Don posted a few months ago. The reason is, that we added a 3rd Sprint medley relay heat for each the boys and the girls. So when looking for the time of your events, PLEASE USE THE EVENT DESCRIPTION to find the time your event takes place. IE: Don't use EVENT #, to plan on when to get to the meet, but instead use "Girls Invite Triple Jump." - I'll try to get the original copy of the time schedule from Don and make the adjustments.
Posted on Mar 12, 2009, 7:20 AM from IP address 72.197.34.215
you're right old coach...I haven't been around very long in the track and field scene. I didn't seed the Tiger Relays last week or actually punch in the girls shot put results. I also had nothing to do with seeding the Frosh-Soph meet in which Abby competed, and of course I had nothing to do with "attempting" to announce her name as she picked up a CIF medal.
This board is so full of individuals that bitch and moan about anything possible. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I THOUGHT A 36 FOOT MARK WAS A LONG JUMP MARK? OR, THAT I DIDN'T KNOW WHO ABBY IS? Is there any reason at all to comment anything other than, "Hey Chris, you made a mistake...Abby from Morse should be in the SP, not the long jump..."?
The one mark out of about 1000 that I missed is a pretty good accuracy clip. So unless you have something educational or positive to add...just don't add anything. I get payed to do some of the seeding and announcing that I do. However, I don't get paid to do much of it, nor does George. Everything I post on the El Capitan website, I do for free....including Palomar League results, Bronco Results, Grossmont Conference Results. Everything that George posts on here for meet information is done without charge as well. In fact, he probably pays for much of the website upkeep out of his own pocket.
If people just bitch and moan about simple mistakes etc, it will eventually lead to me not being motivated at all to stay up until 11pm every night in order to seed meets, post results, or research for announcing gigs.
As you can tell, I'm rather grumpy today....it may be because I had 3 midterms this week, worked 40 hours, timed a track meet last night, spend about 15 hours on the Bronco Hy-Tek File, and will spend the next two nights doing "homework" on the Bronco athletes competing on Saturday. Of course, I'll get back on this message board on Saturday to post results and someone will complain that I announced their kids name wrong. Of course that won't be as bad as being blamed because it was "hot" at the Frosh-Soph meet in Lakeside.
I wish most of you were on Coach Tyler's Track team at Steele Canyon. It would make the board better.
So, now that all of you have read this most of you can tell that I'm just feeling sorry for myself right now because I'm very tired and I miss coaching! So, take it as a "venting" moment and don't take it too personally.
Good Luck to Everyone on Saturday! Of course I'd also like to wish Abby good luck in extending her World Long Jump record to somewhere in the 37ft range!

Patrick Henry got a strong distance team CIF XC Champs and the sprints are coming up as well as jumps,
University City- when the last time they actually didn't win or tie eastern league??? they got Mac if he was allowed to would run all the events haha just kidding.
Point Loma- got athletes that score multiple points.
Mira Mesa- well rounded team with stars in all areas
Morse- last year showed morse is back got great jumps, sprints, relays, distance is back, throws trying to come back after departure of Savage in 06
San Diego- they lost Alante womack but they always have the strong distance.

Can anyone tell me what software is being used to track all meet scoring for instance the Tiger Relay results. Long reports are being posted within hours after the end of a meet. This can't all be done by hand; I assume there must be software involved.
Thanks in advance.

Competing in Florida at the NACAC XC Championships in the junior division, Molly ran an excellent time of 13:35 for 4 km. Her per-mile average was 5:28. That converts to a 10:52 pace for 3200m, and she continued on at that pace for another half mile.
I don't think he has taken the appropriate classes therefore he will have to go to a Junior College first. I'm sure he could choose his school had he taken the right classes

He was running around the same 3 years ago at patrick Henry just never had the grades, thats why he is so out of the radar. But looks like his act is getting together and you never know how this year will end up.

Bronco Entries Posted on www.vaqtrack.com - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!
by Chris Ruff - On Behalf of Bronco Invite
The Bronco Heat Sheets are now posted on www.vaqtrack.com front page.
The track events ARE CLOSED! There will be no late adds, meet time adds etc.!!! If you are not in the hy-tek database, it means your coach did not submit a time/distance for you. An alternates list for track events will be posted sometime tomorrow. There will be no alternates for field events.
If you are a coach and you forgot the deadline or missed the deadline, you may talk to Coach Jones and arrange for some relay entries, but not for individual entries.
Pay attention to the field event breakdowns under the link...they tell you who will be in the invite and who will be in the open.
Spelling errors cannot be fixed prior to the program being printed. Please keep in mind...if your name is spelled wrong, your coach spelled it wrong when entering it into EPI.
Good Luck to everyone on Saturday!!

So just to clarify, the PDF says open discus is thrown at 1, and the invite discus is thrown at 3. So the top 13 or 14 seeded girls on the sheet will throw in the invite heat at 3 pm?
I am basically trying to figure out what time I need to be at the meet if I am seeded in the top 10 for girls discus

Did you also ask each team/coach which athletes were not attending beacuae of Sickness, Injury, Grades, Family Vacations, club soccer commitments, discipline issues, etc etc etc etc?
Are you kidding me with the previous question about SAT's? Some of the questions are getting down right stupid.

I meant if he was notified of any athletes previously entered that are signed up to compete but now will not, so that they can be taken out and the alternates put in so they know they will be racing. Its not hard and its better so that more athletes get the chance to compete, so thanks again, but I dont need your sarcasm when I'm just trying to get other athletes to be able to compete in place of others. You know you would like it if your athletes were able to compete because of space

These groups work hard to put on meets. Demanding and being critical does not demonstrate acknowledgement of apprciation for these directors and their help.

Yes it is true that a lot of work goes into putting on these meets. I think we all realize that and are not saying differently. I and I am sure many, many others are very appreciative to have had this meet to participate at. We are very thankful for all the hard work that was put into it and glad that they put the meet on. Thank you Patrick Henry!
However a HUGE part of putting on the meet is getting the correct results out in a timely manner. To not do so is cutting the responsibility short. Athletes run and participate for the experience AND almost more importantly the results. You gotta have your results to know where you are at! Lots of other schools, clubs, facilities put on meets and get the proper results out within a couple of days. WE are not asking for too much here.
We have been told many times that the results are coming and STILL no results. Really its just not acceptable. It kinda feels like the proper attention and priority is not being applied here and its not fair to those that participated and paid their money and just want to know their results. It feels like a brush off. Its not that the people that want their results are being rude, they just want what they should get and frankly what should have already been delivered to them.
If their is a serious problem with getting the results out like they don't have them or there is a bunch of mistakes that can't be fixed, well they just need to come out and be honest and say so instead of keeping everyone hanging. Again Thank you for the meet Patrick Henry, we did our part, now can you please finish yours? Much Thanks!

don't be a tool race.
sometimes things don't go as planned and results are delayed.
also, it is your responsibility as well to know the results after you run. to do otherwise is simply incompetence and silly. an athlete should always know his results and sometimes even more importantly, the results of those competing against him/her

Ok but you need to be given the results to know them......I can't time myself when I race and not all timers will tell you your results after a race, that is why we wait for the results to be posted.

Walk to the board after your race and look at your time. What do you think people did 10 years ago when the internet was not so available? They paid their fees and TOOK RESPONSIBILITY.

In case you haven't noticed I linked to three Flickr Photo sets.
Dennis McClanahan was at Tiger, I was at Calvin Christian, and gabriel Santana was at the Desert Classic.

So I just compared Big dual results with Tiger for the similar events and here is what I concluded:
girls 1600- birch would have taken first and thomson 2nd with a close battle between souze and meija for third. the races seemed even at both meets.
boys 1600- achee, mentose, and pradel would have gotten 1,2,3 with uriel 4 but rihan and steinhert right there. is uriel out of shape currently? tiger was definately more competitive in this event.
girls 3200- thompson vasquez, and darouie would have gone 1,2,3 with taylor and swanson battling it out for 4th. b.d. was definately the competitive one this time.
boys 3200- marx and hettinger 1/2 from b.d. and achee 3 from tiger. another battle between breen and lawler for 4. b.d. once again was more competitive, but not by too much.
all in all, great marks to start the season off on the distance side. Bronco looks promising this sat.

The sooner we start the better.
I have a volunteer for PV and Sprints, anyone else want to volunteer to keep the Wiki current with an event or two.

EPI will send us the file when it is complete. Several schools entered late which causes the seeding to take longer. As soon as we have seeded the competition we will have it up on this board. Again be patient, we will do our best.
