The secret campsite is at the end of a fire road above Pine Mountain Club -
Details on the village - its amenities etc are all here -
It's a 20 min drive down the mountain from the camp site to the village gas station, supermarket, bar etc - so although you feel like
you are in the middle of nowhere - civilization isn't far away.....

The secret campsite is a simple plateau on top of the mountain at about 7500ft
a few locals know of it as a viewpoint - but nobody was there last weekend.
NO water, NO power or facilities - see pic looking south
This is the site looking north towards Bakersfield and the central valley - on a clear day you can see the high Sierras.
NB. From the edge of the cliff it's a 2000 ft almost sheer drop so small kids and/or drunk adults are not recommended !
Here is a map of the spot - at the end of fire road with the big red star.
You'll note on the map an official Campsite called MARIAN -
This is also primitive has stunning views - fire pits and lots of space - I don't deal well with other campers, and I like
camping away from the masses - hence I avoided it - however according to the Rangers it is hardly ever used.
I checked it out and it looks like this :
My spot has an abandoned limestone quarry a 2 min walk from the site which is an excellent shooting range for skeet, targets
basically whatever you want to shoot - you can even get a 4x4 down into it -
an awesome shooting spot - very private and 250 yds long for some serious rifle shooting - Pics of that to follow - soon
all in all its a magical spot - and one I will be retuning to often - hopefully with some fellow air gun enthusiasts and campers.
