The pig was shot at 50 yards. That type of shot does not hit the brain instead it breaks the neck. In Texas its common for people to tell you a well placed head shot is behind the ear, but it's not a head shot at all it's really a neck shot. The only place I have seen the brain on pig skulls is between the eye and the ear. This is a very very tricky shot because you can only be off by an inch each way. One inch low and it's a jaw hit, one inch high and the bullet will skim across the top of the eye just under the skin of the forehead.
