Me and my wife have been working hard for the last five years to bring a system like the Australian wild game export trade to the USA and are finally making it happen. If you don't know already Australia has had an export trade with Europe for many many years selling wild pigs for human consumption. We have had tons of meetings with TPWD, FDA, and USDA, and have had representatives from NSW Australia come and explain there systems and checks for the industry, and also give them permission to copy their legislation's. The final step was getting the export supply and demand established and investers to setup the chiller boxes and processing of the wild pigs and then exporting them to their county. We just finished a meeting with the import and export agents for China and Vietnam, who are going to be buying the wild meat for use in their pet food industry. Once they work out all the details we will be ready to setup the buying stations, and what processes of checks and balances for hunters and training in the handling of meat for the hunters. It's still a ways off but in time we should have our own high demand export trade for wild pigs in the USA.
How this is different from just selling the pigs to a buying station is that the pigs can be brought in dead without the hassle of keeping live pigs. Thus limiting the market to trappers and dog hunters. Now any qualified hunter with a rifle and pigs can sell pigs and make a profit. This is also a huge plus for the states feral pig problems because it will open up land owners that don't allow hunting on their properties to hunters willing to share the profit with land owners. Say 20/80 split for access to prime money making property. This will also put a high price on pigs heads allowing hard working people to make a full time or part time income hunting pigs.
