They are really bad about giving out massage licenses!
Get this. They don't want me to take the national certification test. They want me to take their own test instead which is not recognized in any other state and there are no study guides for it. I finally found out that they will (begrudgingly) accept the national test.
After I pass that, I can apply to be considered to take another test to be considered for my license.
I have to send in an application packet which includes seven copies of the application and seven copies of a certificate from my doctor stating I don't have any communicable diseases and seven copies of a bunch of other rediculous things. The committee, which meets only four times a year, will conisder my application packet. If approved, I will sit for the Arkansas Law exam which is only given four times a year.
They do not grade the law test right away. They grade it when they feel like it, which could take several weeks or even months.
THEN, they will send me my certificate. (Which, with this kind of luck, will get lost in the mail somewhere!)
I do not know of any other state that is THIS ANAL about their massage certification process.
Okay, I feel better now. I have vented, and others will be infuriated along with me.
remember that God cares so much about your life. And if He knows that it's best for you to have this job, then He's going to make it work, and if not, then He's got something even BETTER planned. hug
But I think you'll make a wonderful massage therapist some day if that's what your meant to do.
I've been looking for another job, also, and I know how frustrating it can be when you can't get what you want when you want it.

Gosh, we're like bringing Arkansas together here! Pharmgirl on MC, the one that Steve doesn't like (hehe..he's just jealous because now she's MY friend!! lol J/K, Steve), is going to be added to that list here soon. We're going to get together some time soon, too!
Honestly, I needed a different set of friends, anyhow. The ones at church are the only other ones I'm keeping right now, because the old ones were driving me crazy. lol (it's ok, I'll explain later, but I think you know what I mean. )
As soon as we all have our normal job schedule back, though,it's gonna be hit n miss. Oh well.
Alayne, have you got online and looked at the state and federal jobs?

I would go there if I didn't have a couple of other ideas up my sleeve at the moment. Plus I'm too busy searching the classifieds in the Morning News, and they are FULL of jobs, although I'm not sure any of them are for me, or not. I'm HIGHLY confident somethin's gonna turn up, though!
I think you'll really like Radio Shack, though, even if it's only temporary...that girl, Jennifer, was it? She was very nice, and seems like she would make an AWESOME co-worker/friend!!!! That's 3/4 of what makes a good job....and AWESOME TEAM to work with!
I have had jobs before where I liked what I was doing, but the people I worked with were just aweful. Those are the worst jobs I ever had. I would rather have a job I didn't like much and work with great people than the other way around.
VERY< VERY true!!! I think this goes for ALL of us! This is why i stayed working in CFA so long....back then the people were awesome. It's how I met my best friend, Windsor!
