That's a picture of me standing under a small side waterfall (just a small trickle) that was next to the first big waterfall.
I can't believe this place is such a secret! You drive along Arkansas 43 for what seems forever until you see a small park "Lost Valley" sign just past Ponca (which is just past the turnoff for Possum Trot). You turn on a narrow gravel road that seems like it's going nowhere. Then you find a nice trailhead for the absolutely the best trail I have ever hiked in my life!!!
You start out by walking along Clark Creek (right before it meets the Buffalo River). But soon it reminded me of the "Hobbit" where they are crossing the Misty Mountains and giants are playing throwing huge boulders around like baseballs. It definately looked like a giant's playground with SUV-size boulders everywhere!
Then the first waterfall is just precious! It comes out of a cave that is only 20 foot deep. You can see through to the other side. Then the trail climbs up a thousand rock steps up to Eden Falls and cave. You are on the side of a bluff that rises straight up as far as the eye can see. The little broccoli sprouts at the top are trees. Eden Cave contains a third waterfall, but you need lights to go in. I will say that Eden Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen! It's a small waterfall that twists and winds its way over the rocks falling about 200 feet to a small pool below.
Oh yeah, I had a good time floating the Buffalo also. And I saw so many houses with junk in the yard that I was tempted to stop and take a picture. I don't think people are trashy though, I think that most of them in that area grew up as farmers and they just don't throw anything away. Plus the lack of zoning codes limiting what you can have in your yard.
I have a dozen pictures that I'll post later in a separate thread.
