This is an interesting annual event in Gillett, Arkansas.

They have their annual coon supper where a lot of politicians show up. The running joke is while most politicians in the country benefit from kissing babies, Arkansas politicians benefit from eating raccoon. Good heavens! :p)

Tater Day

They have someting similar in Benton, KY every year. Tater Day is a big event and every KY politician, especially those from Western KY, show up to kiss babies and make speeches. I never did go.

Since lately you've been on the subject of racism a little, I'll add this. The town of Benton is in Marshall County, KY and unless I'm mistaken some of the residents still pride themselves on the fact that there are no African American's in their county. I never quite understood how they could continue to remain so racist still today and I never understood how the visiting politicians could get by with always showing up with smiles in a well known racist community.

I've tried it before. I can think of worse things to eat, but I would be alright if I never tried it again.
