I don't know of any of the Mississippi River towns, but I do know that I enjoyed the few trips I made to Mountain Home to fish. Here is a link to the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce:
http://www.enjoymountainhome.com/

We fished the White River and the North Fork River, not to be confused with Norfork Lake which was created by a dam on the North Fork River. I think thats right. I dont' have any photos to show because I was still using film back then and don't think I have any of them scanned.

Kind of hard to justify a trip to AR to fish for trout now that I live in CO. But, I'll admit that our trips there to fish all day for three straight days were as relaxing and renewing as any trips I've ever taken. Standing in the river letting the water slide past you while you cast for Browns, Rainbows, Cutthroat and Brookies with a couple buddies is a fantastic way to forget about the stress of keeping things moving in the job place.

Also,

there is Stuttgart, AR. Not really on the MS River, but it is known for its incredible duck hunting in flooded timber. I've never been there, but I have friends in IL that head down that way somewhere every year to hunt. I don't think you could find a waterfowl hunter alive that hasn't at some point wished they could hunt mallards in the flooded timber near Stuttgart, AR.

Between the world class trout fishery and duck hunting that AR has, I could probably make due if I needed to move there. I prefer CO, but nothing wrong with AR.

We ate at several of the local restaurants there that were really good. The two guys we went with that go on a regular basis had a routine for the restaurants. They always ate at a Chinese restaurant (buffet I believe), a Mexican restaurant, and a BarBQ restaurant.
