First Day of Spring!!

Any plans?

My house is full of flowers, thanks to all of the sweet people who've been thinking about me/us this last week, so I think I'm going to spend a lot of my time in the kitchen today, cleaning off enough surfaces to show of the flowers properly

I also have to get all of my tax info to my friend who will be doing them for me. Luckily, most of what I need is buried in piles on the kitchen counter and cleaning the kitchen will help in that goal, too.

I wish it looked more like Spring around here, though... The ground is still snow-covered from last Friday's storm. And it's only going to be in the low 40's here today.

I love the smell of fresh flowers, too. Especially lilacs. Mmmmmm....

My favorite flowers are Gerbera Daisies, but they're not

particularly aromatic. Scent-wise, I love honeysuckle. Mmmmm. I'm looking forward to when that blooms around here.

Thanks for thinking of me- I'm doing well today. I actually ventured out of the house a few times, and spoke to someone on the phone without getting weepy.

Ohhh yes, honeysuckle...*m

March 21 2007, 8:38 PM

That is one I miss from our house in NC. We had honeysuckle all along theback of our fence and along the side was another favorite-Carolina Jasmin. There was this Southern Magnolia out back too. Have you ever seen the blossoms a Southern Magnolia produces? They're HUGE! Creamy white petals that smell almost lemony. Man, did it smell wonderful in the spring in our backyard!

I'm glad you are feeling better Lisa. I do think of you often throughout the day. Oh! And I'm really enjoying Polka Dot Radio!

Do you remember the store called Nature's Elements?

March 21 2007, 8:52 PM

They were a bath & body type place, and they had all of their products in several scents, one of which was called Honeysuckle Meadows. A friend of mine in college gave me a little gift basket of it for my birthday the year I graduated, and it quickly became my favorite scent. It was the only thing I ever wore.

Then Nature's Elements went out of business. I panicked and bought every last Honeysuckle Meadows product that they had on clearance in every single store of theirs I could find, LOL! This was about 8 years ago and I still have some of it, including two whole bottles of perfume. I'm trying to make it last by alternating among other scents now, but it's still my favorite.

Your old yard sounds smelly - in a good way. Our yard has honeysuckle, but that's about it. We used to have peonies, which have a very strong, pretty scent, but the deer took care of that, and just about every other blooming flower we ever had. If I didn't have a black thumb (and a complete lack of interest in gardening ) I'd plant some more flowers around here.

And how cool that you're listening to Polka Dot Radio! I always wonder who's tuning in... I have to add some new music. I've been getting by for the last week or so by swapping in old playlists from January. I just haven't felt like listening to music, let alone picking out things to play. Maybe tomorrow. If there's anything you think I should play, let me know - I'm always happy to get recommendations
